Consistant crashes with no warning.

I have this problem involving BF2 crashing. I will be playing, usually able to get through a round of play, and then my game just completely crashes. No warning, no error message, no Vista-failness, just as if I had hit alt+f4 or used the "end process" part of the task manager.

Most threads I have seen point to heat issues, but my cores never exceed 80 centigrade, and it only gets that high after playing games for a while. What else could this be?

You are experiencing the well known crash to desktop ("CTD"). 80 is too high in my opinion, but ctds happen pretty randomly with bf2 anyway. How come your cores get so hot? mine never go above 60.

If you use the EA downloader that may also be the reason. Do you use the EA download manager?

Yes I am using EADM. I have four cores, and 80 is the absolute max (that I know of) that I ever hit. Maybe I have to update EADM. I'll keep you posted.

I still get the crashes, here's what my temperatures were at immediatly following the most recent crash. (All in centigrade)

GPU: 76
Core1: 63
Core2: 65
Core3: 68
Core4: 63

well, assuming you're having the same problem a lot of us had because of the EADM, you have to make a mini-image and stop using EADM. Here's how to do it http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/ma...ad.php?t=71422

Read the replies to the original post as well. If that doesn't work then I guess there's another problem we don't know.

PS isn't 76 degrees for your gpu a little high? I only use my laptop so I guess it's normal mine stays below 60 all the time. Are desktop gpus hotter?

The gpu looks ok, but 4 cores at mid-high 60's seems too high if your monitoring these temps after the game ctd, when they probably dropped 4+ degrees. Try and monitor temps during game (think Everest has a log option), as this does sounds like a cpu(s) overheating problem.
