In this topic i rant about flaws of BF1943

    -SMG sucks
-Everybody uses the grenade launcher (forgot real name) like it's a primary weapon...i know it's a ribbon, but REALLY
-Tanks shouldn't take a hit to the rear from a missile and live
-Explosives nead more splash damage (tank *COUGH COUGH*)
-Explosives drop WAY too fast...even considering the time era this is, it's kind of rediculous
    -Graphics are horrible
-DLC will likely cost 2/3 of the game's price (biased statement)
-Noobs missile the airplanes at the canal and iwo jima just because they can't get them first
-Iwo Jima's highest capture point is kind of rediculous...unbalances the map (in my opinion)
-(for the ps3 atleast)There's no way to look at your actual stats in-game; only your awards
-you have to win a game to get the best squad ribbon
-airplane controls feel weird as hell (even with it inverted and southpaw;etc...)
-you can be point blank with the SMG and not even get a HS
-the fact that a rifleman can take out a SMG'er in Close quarters
    (cant type anymore)

Haven't had the pleasure of playing the game yet (won't until Sept/Oct, 'twould seem), but to address a point:

-Noobs missile the airplanes at the canal and iwo jima just because they can't get them first

In other words, it really does retain that authentic BF feel. Seriously, every BF game has had tards that blow up assets/grief/TK so they can get to them first, and they're usually aircraft. The planes in BF1942, the jets in BF2, the choppers in BF:V, and (to a lesser extent) the gunships in BF2142. I'd honestly be surprised if they didn't do it for the planes in BF1943, and that really speaks more to the asshattishness of the playerbase than it does to the quality of the game.

And am I to understand you're not very fond of the SMG? Or am I reading it wrong?

They're going after balance not realism. So half of your whining is nonsense. If you dont like the SMG dont use it. The maps are awesome imo, I guess it's up to every individual to decide if it's unbalanced or not but imo they're very balanced, it all depends on the team.

I don't know why you think the planes feel weird, imo they fly great.

The graphics are great man! Start off with a beautiful island and finnish with a burning battlefield. Explosions look and feel great. Models and textures are highres! What more can you possible ask for?

However I do agree with you that the SMG should be a little more powerful in close range.

-SMG doesn't suck you just have to use it properly
-That's true, some people use the grenade launcher a bit too much.
-You have a point but then it doesn't feel the same having such a weak tank when it's meant to be a powerful vehicle.
-Yep, the splash damage is not too good at all at times.
-Explosives drop too fast? Oh come! You're just looking for stupid excuses to add flaws to your list.
-Graphics horrible? You must be stupid. First of all they are not, that's fact. Secondly you must take into account that this is an arcade. For god's sake!
-I actually don't about it, if there's even going to be a DLC.
-There's no teamkilling. If you mean before you get in then that's when you have to know where the plane spawns exactly so you can just pres a button and enter.
-It can be unbalanced by that's why you can enter the base through the back. Parachute from a plane, there are many sort of ways to take that base out.
        -That's the same for Xbox 360. I do think that's a a bit of a flaw.
-Win a game to get it? Well I honestly don't give a **** about that. That's honestly not even a flaw. Haven't you got it yet or what? It's not exactly hard.
-Airplane controls aren't weird, you're just not used to them that's why. I started off without being able to fly but now I've got good. Practice son, practice.
-You do have some hatred for the SMG, don't use it then.
-I know, it does happen but you can easily defend yourself with an SMG as well.

Conquest is the only flaw.. The total randomness of conquest makes the game just like all previous BF titles.. I feel like im playing 1942 again fun for abit but not for long. "Battlefield Moments" is about the only thing to get excited about.

Fight really hard for a flag? 2 seconds later run halfway across the map rinse and repeat.. Oh that last flag is in enemy hands again?

Teamwork doesn't even feel like teamwork.

Having a real objective and a focal point is the only way to go foward.

          Rush FTW!

I agree that this can get a bit tedious, especially in the bigger maps. Driving back and forth between the two flags furthest on each side of Wake Island gets really old really fast. It isn't such a huge problem on Guadalcanal though because the flags are in sight of each other - you can already scout out the situation on the next flag while you're still working on capping one, or make sure your previous capture doesn't get re-taken. It works rather well, and they should explore that more.

The problem with having one focal point is the camping that ensues which can turn many battles into grenade lobbing fests that can last an entire round. You saw it on the titans in BF2142 and again on the gold crates in Bad Company. Granted, it wasn't so bad in Bad Company, but that was mostly because the gold crates ended up being completely undefendable when walls were blown out. Tanks would just knock them out from 300ft away. Conquest was horrible in Bad Company because of the huge maps and low player numbers...if you stick 64 players on one of those maps, you won't have to drive very far to find a fight.

                  Yup,
Well, Im not saying Rush is the end all of battlefield game modes..
Surely theres an even better way to do it..
However I find that a defensive side that can dig in and not spread to thin.
Against an attacking force that needs to work together and use some tactics and brute force to push forward, is much more enjoyable and rewarding.

Harvest day and Oasis are the 2 best examples..
Some distance between the control points and variety between them aswell.

Drop a crate in a basement here or there, like Over and Out.
To stop the HE distance advancements.

I would experiment with multiple types of objectives..

One base could be weapons crates..
The next could be to hold ground..
The next to destroy a static asset like a radar array or plant c4 on anything inside a base " just like Rush" not player c4 but by holding a special button.

These could all be randomly generated aswell so each round plays different.

Even with the static gold crates, BC has had more replay value for me than any other BF game.

Or conquest, With frontlines flavor, so you need flags in order so the battle actually pushes back and forth, So one guy cant turn a huge battle into unrealistic small skirmishes. Add asset destroying to the mix and force the first losing team to defense with no chance of taking spawns further up the map. Win with kills!

Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal are great layouts for classic conquest tho.. dam straight.

I just had to rant that conquest without anything new except better map design. Gets real old, real fast... Rush was a breath of fresh air and i'd love to see it explored further.

If you hate conquest, don't play BF. Play COD or CS.
