I know it's really late in the game but we just reopened a BF2 server. What's the best strategy for getting it populated these days?

You need to have 4 or 5 people just sit in the server to get it jump started and populated. Just sitting in the server by yourself will not work. I tired it when I rented a Bf2 server and no one ever came in. It gets frustrating when no one ever comes in your server. Also what maps are you running and will it be infantry only? I will drop by after work and check it out.

I was never a fan of IO so no it's not IO but still not a full rotation either. We tried the idling thing but people would get mad that no one was active and leave too.

24/7 Karkand/Jalalabad server rotation, preferably "No Vehicles". People are going to play on your server for sure...

Don't cater to the airmaps crowd. That would be way too cool...

That's the issue right now. We have members in Europe, Eastern US, and Western US. We're all on at different times.

24/7 Karkand, 24/7 Wake, 24/7 Infantry, or some combination of those, is the only way to get a populated server all the time.

Unfortunately it looks like you're right. I might switch it to a 24/7 Karkand/Wake server. I had hoped to be unique and have a wide variety of maps but it just doesn't seem like anyone wants it.

There are a few variety (All Maps) servers that do quite well such as Texas Team Players, Nunya, and *Quebec* something.

I'm going to try a 24/7 Wake/Karkand for now and perhaps add in maps once we start building if the community wants it.
