It's a fairly enjoyable game. The gameplay would be nice if I could just get used to using a controller. I can't seem to find a sensitivity setting that works for me. I'll probably never be good at the game but i'll still try once in a while. I don't like shooting a tank 5 times to take it out. Overall I'll give it a 7 because I prefer PC based battlefield games more. That may rise a point in time but probably not much more. The plane is a slow clunky piece of crap and the tank first person view is just stupid. You call it arcade style then give us a realisitic view like we are staring out of a pair of dirty goggles. It's annoyin to say the least.

      Strange thing I found out:

I get tagged by a sniper, then immediatly after hit by a rifle grenade and I survive.

Yet, I blow up a tank (not damaged) with 2 rifle grenades.

      Glitch?

Anyway, I think this game is quite enjoyable, very like BFBC, just without grain and in WW2. Although I WANT A BOLT ACTION RIFLE! None of this auto crap.

In case you guys didn't know but you can hit down and hold on the d-pad to see what is behind you. It works in tanks and jeep and I assume it works in the planes as well but I just haven't tried it yet.

On the topic of squads, this has appeared on the Battlefield blog:
With Battlefield 1943 we are advancing squad gameplay on the console!
            Squad Structure
Squads are now optional, which means you have control over whether you spawn into a squad and what squad you choose to join. Squad selection and recruitment is handled in the menu system where you can join a squad, create and invite others to your own squad, and even make your squad private. This also means those who like to play as a lone wolf can do so outside of a squad and not directly impact squad mates who are looking for closer teamplay and strategy.
            Squad commands
Next, we have improved squad communication and command through a simple graphical interface system. As Battlefield 2142 fans will recognize, squad commands are very easy to use. When leading a squad, simply point your cross-hairs on a flag and press "Back" on Xbox 360 or "Select" on PS3 and the game will automatically mark that flag as “Attack” (red circle) or “Defend” (blue circle) depending on which team currently owns the flag. This informs your squad of the desired focal point and action (attack or defend).
This is a useful compliment to voice messaging when confirming your strategies with squad mates. After all, the team that communicates the best, kills the best.
Example of issued Squad commands in-game:

            Attack marker (Squad Only)

            Defend marker (Squad Only)

            Neutral flag (Squad Only)

            Hotzone marker (Team)

            Hotzones
To help you select your targets we have also added the “Hotzone” system that looks at the whole map and finds the area with the most enemies and friends and marks it as a “Hotzone” like in the image above. These areas are where the action is currently taking place and can influence your suqad command decisions. This can also help Lone Wolf players and indirectly encourage them to help the team, but don’t tell them that. It’s our secret. :-D
So now, in Battlefield 1943, it’s up to you if you want to formulate tactics as a squad or go Lone Wolf and be the one who makes the difference.
            See you on the Battlefield!

Now people are getting the hang of the game so owning on some noobs is getting tougher. I did play last night with Elxx, and the community manager from Pandemic Studios and we did quite well. before going to bed I was top scorer in the sever and ranked up twice.

lol, if we can hit up some bragging rights...

Me and a buddy just wrecked for straight 4 hours yesterday, almost non-stop. Don't think we lost once, and it was usually us 1-2 at the top of the scoreboard.

Sniping is actually pretty good fun in this, probably the one thing I can just about manage with the controller.

                        Re: Its Out! First impressions?

I agree sniping is MUCH more improved than BC! I never bothered in BC due to bad hit registration and the amount it took to kill a player (all this after having to find them through thick fogs and film grain). However in 1943 its so much crisper and sniping really is very enjoyable and rewarding.

I'm so bad at sniping lol. I can't hit crap.

I can do everything else though. :wee:

                            Re: Its Out! First impressions?

After playing the demo I was shocked for starters at how bad this game looks graphics wise. I got a super nice HDTV Samsung LN52B750 with an HDMI connection to my PS3 and it looked horrible. Edges on all the statics appeared rough and with not a lot of detail. What you did see tended to blur or distort a lot.

Getting past the horrible visuals, the ground game was super lame. Unlimited ammo and unlimited health really just took the sport out of it. After each encounter the player losing would retreat since the weapons are not very lethal. Then after gaining back health they would come back and take you on until they of course retreat again. It became a game of hide and seek and with such a small amount of players on such a large landscape, that got old really fast.

Speaking of players, while we knew it was coming the super low number of players leaves the battlefield cold where I found myself having to really hunt for action, especially with so many people hiding to regain health like my 2 year old hides from us when she has to poo.

Vehicles, one shining star here goes to the planes. Even though they are super dumbed down they are kinda fun to fly and fight other planes. I also enjoyed having such a long view distance... actually when you look at everything from really really far away its not so bad looking.

Overall this game is an insult to 1942 players and Battlefield. Many interviews with Dice talked endlessly about how we just needed to trust them and see for ourselves if this game is in fact dumbed down with reference to player numbers, unlimited health/ammo, and lack of vehicles. Without hesitation the answer is YES, this game is a horrible watered down 'Battlefield' game that is a slap in the face to 1942 vets like myself (Because we so desperately want a real follow up to 1942 made with the same formula)!
