COD MW2 = Fail (just another crappy remake)
Crysis 2 = Win (but then you will finish it in like 15 hours )
BF3 = 50/50 could be Win or Fail we just dont have any info
BF:BC2 = Fail (A game more suited to a console kid)

So not that great after all

Most of you are way too caught up in that

Hardcore game with a lot of depth = authentic, gritty, realistic war experience.

Open your eyes and find a completely new world of FPS games out there!

How is CoD:MW2 a crappy remake when it is the squeal to cod4? possibly one of the best online FPS games ever.
Not even going to comment on Crysis 2.
BF3, I agree could go either way, thats why im keeping low expectations so if it is good then I will be very happy :)
BF:BC2 Honestly just looks to me like a pretty decent Bf-style game, but appealing to the console market.

I agree that Arma2, AA3 somewhat OFP2 are all pretty much simulator games and really the only next big FPS gaming coming soon is the new CoD, which looks to deliver as always.

          O_o Crappy remake?.... No...

Judging from the in-game footage Bad company 2 looks pretty damn good imo.

You're far too negative go eat some cake.

The problem with that whole world of Arcade FPS is that the gameplay haven't changed since Halo. I might enjoy the latest Halo reskin for a while, but they have little depth and offer no lasting appeal (IMHO, of course).

Besides they already outnumber the Battlefields 10 to 1, so they are not exactly in need of new releases.

There's a huge difference between "Arcade" and casual/dumbed down.

I don't think casual implies dumbed down, or vice versa.
I will call an arcade game like the latest CODs "dumbed down" in the sense that they are all about quick reflexes and knowing the map. It will take many hours of gameplay before you can hold your own, so I wont call them casual friendly.
I like those games while they are new and everybody is on common ground, but I wouldn't care to join them a year after release.

This thread is why I look up information and demos for myself. You all are basing everything on your own preception. Nothing wrong with that as you should buy the game that you are going to like.

If I went with what everyone else was saying on other games, I would have missed out on some awesome ones and be playing some really crappy ones (Halo, CS:S)

As it has been stated by Verki, I think we can all agree that a new redefining FPS game is quite a way off.

There are a lot of sequels coming out tbqh the ones i am looking for are MW2, Crysis2, and BFBC2 on PC as well as other BF games 1943 and BF3.

I was very much looking forward to OFP2 but i guess i will try it on my friends comp first i fear i might not like it.

Some of the gamer's opinions in this thread = fail b/c they are definitely not supported by facts. They are just purely negative "I'm cool and emo b/c I reject popluar things" type of statements. I guess I'm just not 'elite' enough for the 'cool' gamers out there.

Ummm, yea. I just play the games that come out, the ones I do good in I play for a little longer.

Crunch I see your in-justice about CS up there - if we have to have this discussion again...

Re: Every promising upcoming FPS = fail

FPS games don't necessarily need to be mind blowingly original or define some new aspect of the fps genre

because how the hell do you do that really? Its not as easy as it sounds

but then you just have developers that DO NOT TRY, and its just the same mindless crap with less depth than a paddling pool and its as if the games were made in 5 minutes, or the same game reskinned/remade over and over again...

As long as the developers put in some real effort then I am happy to spend my money.

Crysis or Stalker for example, Crysis wasn't exactly original (aliens omg) but the suit and the gameplay made it truly fun to play, Stalker on the other hand was a brilliant blend of fps and rpg and had me soiling myself constantly, as well as offering challenging gameplay.

There are other games that receive all this hype when all they are is complete and utter junk (I won't name anything as to avoid flamage, BUT WE ALL KNOW WHAT I AM TALKIN ABOUT HERE)
