I've had that happen before. It's not really that useful.

Like you, I was changing the forced AA in CCC or Forceware. If you get PB SS'd, you'll be banned though, so be careful.

I had something siliar a while back when I still had a 6600GT - all I did was to switch to desktop in middle of the game and then go back.
I never happaned again...
