We need to have an actual betting pool for the official release date and delays. Winners can get free copies of the game to 3 months of a so and so many slot server rental.
Im afraid it could, BFBC2 will be released in 2010 and i HIGHLY doubt they will release BF3 within a year maybe more of BFBC2's release due to the fact they want to maximise their profits for the game.
Then there is the issue of releasing patches and for 1943 and BFBC2 combined with the fact that many of there multiplayer tests if they use the same engine may come from BFBC2 feedback.
All of this combined with the huge hype before release of BF3 could imo easily push it back to Januray 2012.

I think a lot of others are reading too much into the EA COO's statement of "not this fiscal year", thinking that automatically means next fiscal year. It does not. It could, but people should not bank on it.
If BF:BC2 comes out Q1 2010, I can't see a BF3 being released before late 2011/early 2012, purely from a financial standpoint.
The COO said he's seen some work in progress on BF3, but we still have no idea how far along that work is. Sports games can be made in 1 year, but most others take 1.5-2 yrs or more development time.

This is exactly the point i was trying to get across, we all here cant deny that EA like to bleed as much money as possible from a game and so we wont see BF3 for at LEAST a year after BFBC2's release.
However going by that we should see BF3 this year and clearly we are not going to see it within the next 2.
My guess is november/december 2010. Remember ,they have engine. It wont take more than that to make this game. And we dont even know how far they are with it. This announcement doesnt mean that they started working on it few days ago.
I cant imagine they will use the current frostbite engine simply for the fact that for me the frostbite engines graphics are very poor even for a 360. I feel they will use a better more advanced version of it. IMO, BFBC2 is the test of the frostbite engine on PC to see how it can handle under extreme multiplayer environments. I cant imagine they are very far into BF3 development, maybe having a few artistic designs and some background models.
