These are all the thirdparty fixes and tips I've collected over the past few years of playing BF2142.
PB;
enter pb_system 1 & pb_sleep 500 in the ingame console and then pb_writecfg is supposed to reduce the scanning pb does for hacks on your system and hopefully reduce any stuttering you may get.
"What it does approximately is that when set to "1", PunkBuster will use a different method of scanning your PC's memory for cheats. pb_system 1 is said to be the more efficient method. The reason that both "0" and "1" are there is that some systems do not respond well to a type "0" scan (i.e. crash or encounter CPU lag), whilst others have problems with "1". Just try both and see which one works best for you."
Creative X-Fi; (crackle fix / fixes all audio glitches when you select the x-fi option)

also download the PCI Latency Tool, a dude over at the ea forums recently told me about it, set the latency of your x-fi to "32" and that will fix any audio glitches you may have.

Trees on Wake look like crap;
video.con > VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples or just set it in the games options.
Game crash on load; (could be corrupt cache)
C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\cache
delete the numbered folder and run the game again to rebuild the cache.
Game crash on awards screen patch fkup
re-patch the game bf2142>v1.25>NS>v1.25>v1.40>v1.50
Unmodified content error
just re-patch with last patch v1.50, do that whenever the game gives you that error.
skip the intro videos
X:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142
rename Movies to Movies_
Tied of using game disc
make 1:1 backup using alcohol 120% and mount. pb is fine with it. DON'T USE modified EXE's. (hope that last one is fine with the mods) I do that to keep my disc fresh.
