we got today a message from ea about our server:hmm:.

Hi

We've been notified by EA that the server that you are leasing is violating the Battlefield Rules of Conduct. Specifically, you are running a restricted kit server.

Reason: "NO ORBITAL OR EMP STRIKES, NO PK ROCKETS"

They have asked us to contact you and let you know that you are in violation of the Rules of Conduct. Also they have let us know that if is not sorted within 24 hours they will de-list the IP (81.19.219.185) and server wont be ranked anymore.

why the **** do they want to close down our server and not all those stad padding servers. There aint really a way to stadpad by doing this as far as i know. someone also posted this on ea forums and there are some morons telling us we are stadpadding noobs and we should get skill:hmm: but i bet everyone from UoR beat them and if they are as good as they say they are, why cant they play without rockets then.

They do close down statpadding servers, but they simply jump open again straight away

Statpadding is not the only reason why servers get delisted. A high degree of local regulation of the game on a ranked server such as limiting important features of the game can get your server delisted.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that you will get a lot of complaints from angry players if you kick them for using pk rockets

I have to agree, that really is a crock of ****e. The game becomes a hell of a lot more balanced once PK rockets are not allowed pertaining to DICE game plan of the rock. paper, stone gameplay but with the orbital and EMP strikes, if you have a commander he should be able to use his assets otherwise just state no commander.

yeah but we like the balance. also we barely have problems with people getting angry because of no rockets(the more angry they get with their 1-20 kds.) Why cant you allow certain weapons of use if that enables a more fair and better gameplay and makes people get better skills in any form.

To be honest... I'm surprised that commanders can still orbital strike in no-vehicles mode, would've thought they could have disabled that. Compare it to BF2's inf only where the commander is just a spotting-pain-in-the-*** without the air-strike in nv-mode... seems a bit silly.

Sempf - the answer will always be, you are free to play how you choose on unranked servers. But their game, their laws for anything ranked. If you've got lots of knife kills, you can be put up for wiping (legit or not). If you run a server with even slightly restricted kits (THIS SERVER FORBIDS THE HOFF3000), you can have your server delisted.

But nice that they got round to badgering you RE your server before fixing the leaderboard and removing genuine stat-pad servers. Once again, priorities fully in check. Can't say it doesn't look like a kick in the teeth from the players perspective.

Yeah, but then again these guys were never that bright as it would have been just common sense to include the INF ONLY option when the game was released not 2 or 3 patches down the line, due to the fact BF2 already had the INF ONLY option before 2142 was released.

Can you really ban someone for being good(Pr0w)?

Generally you only get banned for being an asshat. I suspect you start running your mouth off when your wrist gets slapped.

If that's the case, then you only have yourself to blame.

My theory is that if you rent a server, it's up to you how you run it. If the rules aren't fair or popular, the server simply won't populate or be popular. When I was at BBUK, we always used to get flak for employing a wait in line for vehicles rule. Yet, the server was always busy, still is, so it shows that our rules worked.

I've even noticed that some clans are even now allowing members to cheat on their own servers, I reported one to their clan and got banned from their forum and servers for stating he had been caught by PB and was still allowed to play

Oh umitkiris... he was an obvious botter even before PbBans FINALLY picked him up. Doesn't surprise me that DmgC defend him though, people got kicked for accusing him whilst playing on their server even whilst it was BLATANTLY obvious he was target snapping. That clan went down the toilet a while ago.

The game still has plenty of fail left :P
