How to get a better ping

I have cable and lately i been getting a 118 so ping. Is there any tweaks to help it out ? I disable my anti-virus when i play, game is all high except AA which is off.

Find a server with a ping of less than 100?

I don't see why you don't have AA enabled as your system should be able to run BF2 fine with AA.

I always thought AA was pretty much useless when it comes to visuals VS performance.

It really helps to smooth jagged edges out and you should not notice a performance decrease with your system. :thumbsup:

Auto sort the list by servers lowest ping to highest, You should find heaps around 40-100.. Also having AA set makes a massive difference in how the game looks... Makes all the lines a lot smoother.. Set it to 8..

P.S. you can also use gamemonitor.com to find servers closest to you, then save them in your xfire and connect :thumbsup:

Does it still run good? It should. If not try 4x or 2x.

BF2 won't even budge his system no matter what setting..

AA puts a lot of stress on your system, he can play it fine with AA, but without it he has more of a guarantee that it will run smoothly when there's a lot of FX around him/on screen. I play without AA on all of my games, you don't really notice it unless you're standing still or are paying close attention to detail.

True, but a 8800GTX will bulldozer anything BF2 tries to put in the way!

As suggested, try to find servers with ping between 40-100 using the server browser sort option.

118 is still playable IMO, but getting down into the 10-40 range really makes a difference you can feel.

My 9600GT bulldozers anything BF2 tries to put in its way even with 8xAA. If I can do it, he can do it.

And OP: 118 ping seems OK to me. When I play BF2 if my ping is less than 150ms then I'm happy.

Well i loaded a server that had like a 40 ping and i was at 29-35 ! Guess it was the server. Man i was owning them guys with that ping, i loved it !!

Yea the 8800GTX kinda laughs at BF2 even with all high, the video card doesnt even break a sweat. Even with everything on high the temps are still really cool with the aftermarket HS on 100%.

Will always be the server , just filter it around on the selection screen .
