MMORPG slump

I have been looking for another MMORPG to pick up, I find having one is a nice way to balance out other games I play.

I played WoW for about 6 months before getting very mad at the new expansion and quitting. The simple fact that when I was 70 and worked for quite a long time getting decent armor, and it was all replaced in the week it took me to get 80 really annoyed me. I was not going to let that happen again, I did not want to spend a ton of time getting good armor just for it to be replaced next expansion.

I played Eve Online for around 4 months, just got tired of the very monotonous playing style, had around 300m with a Caldari Navy Raven and just got bored.

DO NOT LAUGH - I played Runescape for 5 years, and quit because the graphics just got old. Honestly, if they came out with WoW or Eve quality graphics, I would go back to it. I liked runescape a lot, but the javascript limited it severely.

So now I ask - What if any MMORPG would you suggest me to try out, or would you just say to wait for the many that are in the works? I am interested in the new Blizzard MMORPG coming out - I hope its starcraft related.

LOTRO or WAR?

My brother is really into Warhammer Age of Reckoning having previously being a WoW lover, so that's worth a shot. I mentioned LOTRO though everytime I ask people about it I get mixed reactions so not so sure about that one.

At the moment, there are not many mmorpg's, you could try guild wars or Age of conan.

There are some interesting mmo games being developed, such as:
Star Trek http://www.startrekonline.com/
Stargate Worlds (im very interested in this one) http://www.stargateworlds.com/

There are some free to play ones out there, but try looking at www.MMORPG.com has lots of stuff on there, free to play, pay to play and in development.

thanks, I will look into the new things since it seems I have already tried mainly the top rated games of their individual classes (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Free/lost cost).

I just like to have an mmorpg that takes a good portion of my time because it seems to make all the other games I have so much more fun when I don't play them all the time. And don't get me wrong, I do play a lot of other games, just as an example:

Far Cry 2
Fallout 3
Crysis
Crysis Wars
Empires: Total War
Orange Box
Left 4 Dead
Red Orchestra

I could keep going but those are the main ones I am playing right now. Still waiting for BF3 (the real one if it exists, not 1943 or BC2)

Not only Aion but if you like PvP you can try DarkFall Online or wait for Mortal Online...some f2p games such as Conquer Online, Dofus, Wurm Online (java)...there's a bunch really. I think the industry is going to get even bigger, and someone will soon dwarf the success of WoW, even if it's blizzard themselves :)

He's looking for something now, not something that is coming out.

I would reccommend Age of Conan, When it was released it was great untill level 20 where the content really became lacklustre but i've been told they've patched that up now.
Failing that you can't go wrong with Warhammer Online, especially if you enjoy pvp.

Though personally i would recommend going back to WoW, The New content is the best released to date and you have atleast 1 and a half years buffer on your gear being made obsolete by a new expansion.

LOTRO is a good game, but I personally find that the online/multiplayer of LOTR:BFME was much better that that of LOTRO.. So i'm not sure about that one. But as Enigma said, there are mixed reactions so I guess you'd just have to try them yourself..

I would reccommend Age of Conan

My friend plays this and he's on it all the time and has no complaints, so I can recommend that one as well.

As for a World of Starcraft, I have heard the new Blizzard MMORPG is based in a completely new world. I was also hoping for a World of Starcraft.

I will most likely end up waiting for one of the "Next Gen" MMO's, some of them look very interesting such as the Stargate Worlds one, and Cities XL seems interesting.

I just can't wait to see what Blizzard's next MMO is, because I have always wanted to get into an MMO when it came out so I could be on top of everything, but at the same time I don't like to spend money on games I don't know if I will like or not, so often I don't get into new MMOs because they don't have demos or many reviews yet.

The thing about WoW is that you got into it late. Expansion packs always wipe out the older armor sets. But expansion packs are released about every two years so level 80 armor is good for a while once you get it.

I hit level 80 a week after the expansion and started doing as many heroics as possible, but one thing led to another and I just realized that I would end up spending a ton more time getting a ton of armor and such just for it to be replaced the week after another expansion.

I do not dislike the fact that I would replace my armor, but I HATE the fact that I was not compensated at all for having gotten good armor, there should have been a trade in option or some way to get something more out of the armor than just disenchanting it. Thats what drew me to Eve-Online, it was more of a skill based game than a game based on what you had, and even when new things came out, it did not make anything obsolete.

Took me a week of heroics for naxx gear- 3 runs of naxx to get 10 man gear, another 3 runs fors 7.5 gear

I play a max of 2 days a week 1-3 hours - Not hard at all. Stop QQing and spend time playing K thanks bai!

See, the funny thing is, when you play a class that is actually challenging to play, and a class that is needed for every dungeon/raid, I actually need to get the best gear from every heroic. Sure, if I was a hunter I could just do whatever and go raiding with anyone, but tanking means that I actually have to have the best gear possible for each raid to be able to do them. I had done every heroic dungeon maybe around 5-10 times and still did not have good enough gear to tank Naxx.

So don't act like you know my situation.

And by the way, I don't know what "QQing" means, and I also don't know what "bai" means. Try and use proper English when in a forum, this is no speed competition.
