Zatar wetlands with no air rape would just be fantastic. Flying round the map in a DPV or hummer with only mines and AT guys to worry about. :yay:

I'm definately in favor of this mode; jeeps never got enough credit. There isn't even a medal for transport (although there is a badge).

Last night I was on wake. I had just put 3 C4 on the hood of a car and someone from my team drove off with it.... and FF was on. So I blew him to hell.

I would love a no aircraft mode (aside from transport choppers)

I'd prefer a no mobile-AA mode.

At the very least it would be nice just to have an option in I/O mode to "allow" the commander to do vehicle drops.

well look at how IO arrived, it was just like the other 'punishment' nerfs that happened when the community found enough voice to complain Dice into doing something about imbalances in things through the years.

in this case IO was the ultimate vehicle nerf to placate the 'we are fed up with air domination' crowd and, like other nerfs, was thrown together quickly with no real consultation with the community


for better or worse weve put up with it, like all the other nerfs, but it would make sooo much more sense to have IO with transports. Im sure it was a bug that left them out?

There are a few servers that are Transport Vehicles Only, and they are really fun to play in. They probably all run city maps like Mashtuur and Karkand, where only attack choppers and tanks are the problems. The only problem is that noobs come in all the time and get in tanks and APCs and if there is no admin, it becomes annoying.

Our clan broke up due to a combination of 2 things:
1. We were sick of being air-whored, (maybe I am crap but) in over 200 hours of play I haven't managed to shoot down a jet from the ground.
2. The only way to not get whored was go to inf only, well we only play once a week at most and then we get just plain old pwned! Guys with 2000plus hours, I bow to your skillz!:p Really we don't like inf only, I love hooning around in a jeep and taking rear flags. Inf only often end up in a stale-mate... Jellybad anyone?

So I would love this, have wanted it from the start. Now I can do this on BFBC (attack helos are easily downed) or 1943, the a/c aren't so deadly and I have even downed one with my rifle :) But it is not as good as on my PC, and only 3 of our old clan have XBoxes.

So yeah, please please please for BF3!

EDIT: case in point, I just jumped online to check if my BF2 install and mic was working (been a long time) and I get killed within seconds of spawning by a j10 on wake, twice

Transport Only would be a blast, I miss my engineer throwing down AT mines for a reason.

1. We were sick of being air-whored, (maybe I am crap but) in over 200 hours of play I haven't managed to shoot down a jet from the ground.

Best way is to stand off the AA watching a plane until it passes over you and is flying away and then lock and shoot it. Usually only one missile hits as they release flares, but occasionally the planes are already damaged enough or have just released flares in which case they go down.

I always use unpopulated AA as well, especially the one between main Chinese base and north base on Wake. You can get those planes coming in to strafe the airfield.

I remember one round of Wake where I was trying to do that with the AA to the west of South Base, when this one guy kept jumping in it and screwing me up. He'd hop in and stay there, only to get strafed by the jet and have the AA blown up. He'd spawn at South Base and do the same thing again and again. I think he did that most of the round, ended up with like 14 deaths and only 1 kill (which I don't think was an aircraft). I felt both sorry for him and pissed at him. :p

What makes it worse is that all the empty AA sites show up on the map and when it disappears, you know an enemy has gotten into it.

Same thing with transport vehicles and boats, especially on wake. It's like a death wish getting into them because the airplanes conveniently have a tracking system to show where they are from a huge distance away. If that was removed, it would cut down the air rape a bit.
