God, I tell you what...one thing that pisses me off more then anything.

People that say "it will never happen" or "you can't do it."

WTF are you people good for in society if you're going to be so negative? I mean it, damn, WTF?

No matter how many people vote, it won't happen. Dice employees have already stated that it isn't even on the table. I did already pay for both Boosters as soon as they came out. Nothing would make me happier than for them to be made free and those maps be put into general rotation. I was so disappointed when I went to Korea and came back to see all of the servers running those maps dead or turned into time padding servers. But again, EA/Dice would rather no one play those maps before they give them away. Haven't you been paying attention to their business model for the past few years?

I voted, and now I can say "yeah, at this point, it is hard to see EA giving up anything with their stock a 1/4 of what it was this time last year. But at least those 100+ people are trying."

I see where you are coming from, I totally agree, Im pretty sure Most people want you to prove us wrong, but its not going to happen. EA arn't exactly the most democratic when it comes to their Products, you could say they are comunist advocates, like polka

Yeah, true, but at least it is not locked! I've not read through the comments over there because it would take all day to hear the same thing over and over...but at least it could get the freaking ball rolling.

The only thing I see holding it back is not the lost money of making it free...it is the development hours to make a patch to allow the extra content for free.

Are people not aware of this thing called business? Companies exist in order to make money. In order to further this cause, EA/ DICE have developed and released booster packs, which people exchange money for.

There is no advantage to EA releasing the packs for free, so why should they do so? After all, they can continue to make money from the few copies they manage to sell.

It makes no difference that the community wants it, since this will offer no advantage to EA. Why should they care if they are still played? They make the money from the initial transaction, what the person does with the game after that is irrelevant to them.

What development hours? They already started as downloads. If they change the price to $0 on EA Downloader, they're done.
It's all about the money. They would rather have 10 people buy it and never play it and convince their friends not to waste their time; than give it away and potentially sell more copies of BF2 in the process. A bird in the hand, and all that.

Yeah, development hours. Making a batch that would integrate all the pieces together would require development hours. Tweaking the Server patch to allow it. I don't think they could just toss it out there without having to do some code updates in the backend.

Point being, since you can't read between the lines...I too bought both titles and I have stats showing that I played:

European Union 29:16:11 81 31 2.61 102

So, back to your original statement about me being greedy. More I feel EA could be altruistic, they need to do some major PR work. Their dilatorily actions lately with regards to the 1.5 patch, seem to indicate they want to bring people back to the franchise.
