    what is FALCON?

It's a new menu tab that apparantly lets you set your own weapon statistics in the beta?

It's really screwed up my sensitivity settings and I'd like to disable whatever it's doing.

If they can make that thing work as good as it should, i will definatly drop $200 for the one with a pistol grip.

More important, how to disable it? It has messed my joystick and other configs :shakehead:

Quickly tried to get rid of it but it will put it back in config, even after making readonly controls.con

I think that's for the rumble/force feedback when you fire a weapon or get hurt.

I just ordered one after playing around with one at the store on BF2. This thing adds so much immersion to the game and makes old games fun to play again. The bundle is really nice with Orange Box and Penumbra with it. You can get one for 20% by using a referral code also, mine is "demo". I'm surprised there weren't more threads on this since 1.5.

There's a lot of good videos on YouTube showing it in action. You can also turn off the force feedback for competitive play if you want.

Yea, it's not as uncomfortable as you would think though and you'd get used to it after a while. It's one of those things where it takes time to master, but once you do, you're a force to be reckoned with.

Make sure to delete ALL Falcon related assignments in the control setup menu (read delete, by highlighting and hitting the "Esc" key) and make sure all joystick functions are set in the primary (not secondary field), then save. That should take care of it.

As for the Falcon unit itself, I think it looks incredibly uncomfortable to use and I can't imagine it being more accurate than the mouse / keyboard setup. Immersive? Maybe a bit.. but not worth the trade off at first glance. I guess I shouldn't bash it too much, not having tried it out, but it just doesn't look practical and that $200 price tag.. ouch.

Zone, you can actually check it out at a Microcenter like I did if you have one nearby. They had one set up and gave me a good idea of it's practicality in games. You can actually face off against a bunch of Falconers on Wednesday nights in TF2 where they demonstrate it's ability to be used competitively. Like some reviews have said, it's the second wiimote of its time. It's not for everybody, but it is really underrated in my opinion. It took me a year or so to break down and buy one since money is as tight as ever.

I don't like the idea of not being able to rest my wrist on the desk - looks like a case of repetitive strain injury waiting to happen (after a 4 hour sesh of BF2).

Yeah I dont like the controllers that force you to keep your hands and wrists moving in the air. Thats why I still think keyboards are the most comfortable.

I have never liked idea of switching back and forth from KB/Mouse to joystick.
                            Why I fly with KB/Mouse.

                              Funny youtube!!!

The thing for me, its the price plus the size, I have limited desktop space. The demo code still works though, almost made me pull out my plastic!
