No idea where they got that from. The official game text (from the 2142 website) is

The Morretti SR4 (Sniper Rifle 4) is a next generation sniping medium utilizing a semiautomatic configuration, high calibre round and telescopic sight to effectively assail medium and long-range targets. I guess as long as DICE doesn't make BF3's rifle super silenced I can live with it. lol
