I can't read it. Proxies are blocked on my network

I'd be interested in knowing what type of gamers they were though :o

Re: opinions from people who went to DICE and played 1943

I pulled out the best parts and translated for you guys.

All the weapons in the game works so that the bullets go in a very straight trajectory. This would seem like something that makes getting kills easy, but is definitely hardened by a rather heavy recoil. Overall all the weapons felt very good and nice to handle.
Speaking of weapons the guns are banging really nice. The quality of the sounds is recognized from Battlefield: Bad Company. It's sky high. At the very least it sounds extremely well and if you're at home with a big sound system I can guarantee goose bumps on top of your goose bumps.
By the way, the system with infinite ammo and regenerating health feels very good. After heroes it actually feels rather natural and the game never gets any less challenging because of that. Instead it helps tremendously with the intensive gameplay and you don't have to go and hide or run across the entire map to find ammo. There's one hundred percent focus on action.

The first few minutes I am striked of how good the game looks and feels. the feeling from 1942 is left (something that we got confirmed afterwards - the developers had played BF1942 for hours to get into the classic feeling) and the graphics remind me of a mix between BF2 and Call of Duty, but with an extra finish. So after only a minute, I was in love with the way the game looks.
We got to try out Wake Island and Iwo Jima. Both maps remind us about the originals but at the same time extra fresh and redone. The maps are damn well balanced and the battles move smoothly between the flags without the need to run several kilometers (aka BF42 syndrome and BFH syndrome). The vegetation on the maps is spot on, not as little as in BF42 (about 10 trees per map) so there's trees in natural places (that by the way is awesome camoflague) and also ground vegetation that doesn't really works as camoflague but that heightens the mood a lot.
First out was good old Wake Island, a map that now has been seen in many BF games. The layout is easy to recognize, the outer villages and outsposts are very similar to BF2 and BF1942. The air field is rebuilt though, more houses and less runway makes for more intensive battles. The Japanese have also been rewarded with a hangar ship which makes the map into a kind of "double assault" and thereby a little moore balanced than in the earlier games.
To begin with, the the big question mark about regeneration of health and ammo isn't noticeable. The truth is, I didn't even think about it until the evaluation afterwards, it's simply not something you react at.
The game has no anti-aliasing, most likely because the 360 simply can't handle it.

Overall the game looked as good as you could expect on a Xbox 360. How it will look on PC is something we will have to wait and see, Patrick promises us "cutting edge" but couldn't be more specific than that.
The squad system is similar to the one used in BF2 or 2142, but you can spawn on any member of your squad.

For the console versions EA and DICE will handle the servers due to heavy restrictions by Microsoft and Sony, but it seems we might get another solution for the PC.

The sound recordings DICE did at the Swedish army defense was partly for BF1943, but DICE also tries to maintain a large database of different sounds.

Punkbuster or similar will be used for the PC version. Exactly what it is, remains unclear for now.

The patching of BF2 and 2142 goes forward. Expect more news and an open beta now in april.

The financial crisis haven't affected DICE much, but Mirrors Edge sold worse than expected.

Mod- or map editor won't be released publically for BF1943.

As most, 15 people have been working on BF1943, from the beginning only 3.

The soldiers in 1943 have no similarities to those in Heroes. The mis conception of the game most likely comes from the fact that the first trailer was a bit cartoony in style.

The number of players for the PC version remains unclear, but they are thinking about it a lot.

Seems very promising to me :)

Ya I read this like a day ago, very interesting info. I think those guys should go back when the PC version is availble because they use the controller and most of them are not console players. The game seems promising, I want to play the demo already! It should be soon since the release date is during summer.

This could be good. I'll probably still wait for it to come out, and read what people think of it before I make my decision on whether to get this or not, though.

Damn, that will surely keep the action going. I like that idea...

That statement screams of another title in DEV stages....BF3 Hopefully

Good to hear there won't be a cone of chance with weapons and that they will go where you aim :)

                  Thanks!

I won't bother dice'cting but some of the comments are really juicy. Damn, can't help myself:

"All the weapons in the game works so that the bullets go in a very straight trajectory. This would seem like something that makes getting kills easy, but is definitely hardened by a rather heavy recoil."

oh i hope that recoil is as good as you feelin it, not quite the MP40 on DoD:s

getting excited about BC:2/1943vII tbh, weapons should be awsome.

Makes it sound like there won't be bullet drop?

Yeah, that makes it seem like snipers will have a huge advantage.

Well the maps aren't that big (well... you know >_>) so we'll have to see.

I wouldn't take it too literally either, that quote was from one of the guys who tested the game and not an official statement by one of the game devs.
