Will there be a server browser?

I'm not sure if I missed it but have they mentioned anything about how they're handling the server searching for PC version?

Would imagine it would be random match making, but I am not sure. Hopefully there will be a server browser. Surely wouldn't match making mean that normally its not dedicated servers? Or would it be like the "Play Now" button in BF2 where it just assigns you to a random server. Or perhaps there could be a L4D style lobby system.

If there is no server browser, I can't see too many clans paying for servers that they wouldn't be able to use.

I cannot think of 1 game made by EA that does not have a server browser...

L4D is a source game.. even it still has a server browser.. yes you just open console and type "open server browser" and magic...

I seriously doubt that this game will not have a server browser. I think this is game is going to be great.

Bad Company is a Console game though, so that's not a relevant comparison. I would have a hard time believing that BC2, a full-fledged PC game, won't have a server browser.

And Heroes is sort of an odd duck, being that it's designed as a free, simplistic kind of game. Hard to read anything into that vs. future titles.

              ..

I think 1943 could go either way...it's sort of experimental, but has the potential to be expanded if DICE/EA wanted. Hopefully we'll hear some official word on this soon. If they want to maximize the PC experience for players (and boost sales), then they would do well to have a server browser included in 1943.

I'm not sure, but I think in the final version of Heroes they will actually have some kind of server browser option. If they're going to allow people to pay to rent servers, they really must allow a way to get onto them.

So, console game doesn't count and Heroes is still a closed Beta. The final version should be different.

1943 is also an odd duck, being made primarily for consoles. The trend is already established and they have been avoidant on this issue so far.

Re: Will there be a server browser?

A server browser would be nice. The "play now" concept is always bogus

I would also like to see local servers outside of North America. EA need to realise that there are potential players/fans outside North America that would like to play without the lag. Otherwise I will play the waiting game and wait for a PC release, or even better, a proper PC Battlefield.
