    Modability

I'm hoping that the PC version of BF:BC2 will be modable. Judging by the fact that it's a console port, I'm not so sure. I hope it's just as modable as BF2, possibly more.

it probably won't. EA has been rather reluctant to release modding tools for their games lately. More profitable to offer their own DLC and all.

I think DICE realizes that pleasing the mod community is a great thing, unfortunately I'm not sure our beloved friend EA have the same opinion

I was talking about these sorts of things in this thread http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/ma...d.php?t=189670

But I was taking it off topic to far so I decided to come here.

IMO DICE must have had a reason to move under EA, Probably the all mighty dollar. Non the less I have been speaking about the developement of games and PC vs Console issue that is a big deal amoung gamers.

I wanted to inject some ideas and see how anyone here feels or if anybody out there agrees or sees where Im coming from.

There used to be some games that has such open code and mod friendly, they didnt even run a file check when multiplayer gaming.
You could mod the files to give an advantage and basicly cheat with no more knowledge than how to open files with notepad.

More recently with games like BF2 Special Forces where some maps were meant to be played at night or in the dark with low visability.
One could simply use a gamma "cheat" to make it look as tho it was the middle of the day.

On a console game where there is little you can change. No turning off grass so you dont have to deal with it. Since it only hurts in BF2 and doesnt help you hide at all due to the Level of detail pop ins.
Or any other thing you can think of that changes to playing field, intentional or not. Doesnt exsist on the console.

Im all for mods, and if its a PC game it only helps gaming develop, since numorous of modders have gone on to the big show.

But if they want to make a fair game all the way to the core.. you have to get rid of all the options.

As far as profit gos... I think people still buy the devs content even if there are mods. But yes they are in it for the money, if no other reason then they can continue to be game developers and not have to sell to a huge company like EA just to do what they love for a living.

It sounds like DICE cares about the people who buy the game, while EA doesn't give a damn.

If there's no editor I probably won't buy the game...

There were many great mods for in the battlefield series I'm sure we will eventually see mod coming for BF BC2 weather they release the SDK or not.

An SDK like the one they released for Crysis would be cool.
