Re: radeon x 1950 PRo AGP
Not a bad card for its time imo, what resolution will you be playing on though? If you stick another GB of RAM in there, 1280x1024 should run most high and a few meds.

Re: radeon x 1950 PRo AGP
Your chip can run HIGH settings fine if you overclock that CPU.
One of my oldest towers that I now use for Folding has a very similar setup... AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0Ghz w/ Nvidia Geforce 128mb 6800
At stock I played at Low... Overclocked to 2.5Ghz and now it plays at High. :p

PCI-express doubles the bandwidth compared to a APG card, so I'm guessing he won't be able to play at max settings.

My younger brothers handy down PC, runs a ATi RX1900 512mb and games like COD4 BF2 run great on high 1280x1024, altho he does have a Dual Core 3.0 GHz processor and 2 Gb of RAM. Hell that rig even ran Crysis for me at 25fps 1280x1024 medium to high settings.

Re: radeon x 1950 PRo AGP
You're assuming that the additional bandwidth is actually used which is by no means certain, especially with an older CPU. The ATA/100 bus was nowhere near saturated when SATA/150 was first introduced and the same was true of AGP.Originally posted by **L96A1**PCI-express doubles the bandwidth compared to a APG card, so I'm guessing he won't be able to play at max settings.
Yes, I would also strongly recommend going to 2GB.Originally posted by ConscriptVirusjust remember that 1gb of ram will hold you back...alot
My brother has almost that exact system but he no longer plays BF2. Athlon 64 3200+ (2 GHz), 2GB PC3200 RAM, Radeon x1950 512MB AGP. His CPU seems to be hurting him in some of the newest games.
