    European Conflict.

European Conflict is a new Bf2 realism mod what is in development right now. EC takes a place in the year 2015 when a new war spreads across European Plains. After many years of patience Russia snapped and attacked the European Countries to once again start bigger and better Empire of the Earth. In the Countries like Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Latvia, and other Baltic countries suffered a lot of damage to crops, buildings and families.

I know the story isn't the best, but i hope it will change a little when we go farther on the development and in Bf2 the story isn't the main thing where to focus, creativity is the main goal of success and new members are always welcome to join and if you are not interested, it would still mean allot if you could register to our forums. Now we are just starting to set up all the basic things. Where we are aimed at is to create all new experience to the bf2 gaming, redo most of the things we can.

I hope to get some fans and future members from here too. right now we only have 5 members on the team and still the progress is fast. So post what do you think about the project for now and tell us what else would make your game experience allot better.
We are still recruiting more members to join our modding team. Most thing what we need right now is modelers and mappers, but still everything is needed. If there is more members then there is faster progress.

This project started on the last week so we haven't got allot of things to show in this point but remember to check our Moddb pages for latest updates
    http://www.moddb.com/mods/european-conflict1
and feel free to register on our sites and say what would you like to see ingame http://www.european-conflict.co.cc

Is it really worth starting a new mod now, given that the only really popular ones have undergone years of development.

Surely it would be better to use your skills to help existing mods such as PR?

I know i have been thinking that allot. But making making a mod for other mod teams name isn't so good idea and our development is kinda fast because we have some members who even makes games as their work not just a hobby and the bf2 engine is the easiest what i have seen.

I hate to say this but its kinda late to be starting a mod for BF2, and can't see it taking off since you are going to be in direct competitor for players with Project Reality which is now very well established and won MOTY this year.

Good luck all the same if you do decide to carry on but I would advise you to look towards future games that are coming out and get ready to mod for them if you want your mod to become a success.

Yes well Bf2 is just the easiest way to create something and i don't mod because of success. It's more like a fun hobby of mine, i am not so sure about the other team members tho and i think that this mod isn't going to be anything like PR is and we are not going to make this as a competition to the other mods out there, we are just being creative.

I think there certainly is room for a mod that focuses on realism. I still play alot of mods for BF2, because it offers somethong other games can“t atm. But a new mod now has to be special, and realism is a good way to go imo.

Well thats what we are planning to do, we are maybe going to remake most of the common bf2 materials, all the buildings and statics are maybe going to get remade to make it more European and to take the bf2 vanilla feeling off the gaming. But that just depends how much time we really want to set in this project.
We were even thinking about making all the vehicles to the same size as they are in real. But thats still just an idea for now. But definitely there will be allot of new material for the players to enjoy.
But all who are interested we just opened an applications thread in our forums at: http://blackdragon6450.byethost16.com/forums/index.php

I don't want to rain on your parade, but putting hundreds and thousands of hours into modding BF2 at this stage seems like a waste of time. IMO, you'd be better served by joining and enhancing an exisiting mod (or mods) by producing additional content for it/them.

For example, with your focus on "European Conflict" perhaps you might make that a universal mini-mod which could be run on top of the very popular mods with established communities. To explain further, perhaps you pick a mod like AIX. You start a dialog with the developers to explain what you want to do as an extention of their work. Explain the differences and advantages.

So, you might be able to release a mini-mod which includes a few extra vehicles, a couple of maps and some unique content. However, you don't have to worry about the whole shebang as the core mod is the skeleton you hang your work from.

I speak of AIX because I'm a fan. Perhaps approaching BlackSandStudio (not affiliated with AIX at all, but a major player in the community mod realm) with your idea would allow for you to speak with other experienced modders who might have further suggestions. Perhaps an add-on for the fabulous USI mod where the battle moves further East would be really cool.

I'd just like to encourage you to think outside the box. If you plan on basing your models from XPAK content, you'll find that the files will not be hosted on any popular hosting service as it breaks EA copyright. No legit site offering gaming files will want to be associated with this. Just as using another mod's content without permission will cause a very negative reaction in the community. No worries, I'm just trying to be a resource. =)

My advice, speak with Guedo at BSS and talk to him about what you're doing. Perhaps he can help get you some assets and hook you up with others who might wish to contribute. These guys do this a lot, so be bold.

Good luck. www.blacksandstudio.com < site appears to be having difficulty

                  Re: European Conflict.

To go along with the ones saying not to mod BF2, I have to agree, but why not mod BF2142? It's a little bit better mainly because of the increased number of unlocks, which adds lots of possibilities for a mod, plus it might have materials that fit better into a future euro scenario than BF2. There's also less competition from existing mods.

Then there's the Extreme Realism Mod, which has been quiet lately, but is still in development. You might be able to do something with them: http://www.moddb.com/mods/extreme-realism-mod

That's the truth. BF2142 had some nice improvements over BF2.
