    Good gaming site?

K, well I'm after a GOOD site for present and up and coming game reviews.. I used to like Gamespot until I realized EVERY game with an ounce of hype got an 8-10 rating..

What sites do you guys trust and use for all your reviews?

    (aside from TGN)

Other than TGN......none. Unless its Hello Kitty Return to Fairy Island, it seems most sites just give out high 8 to low 9 scores for everything. Some games are just crap but everyone is afraid to say so, except Yahtzee, which he is very accurate, but even then can be misleading because he is so negative.

My no.1 for game reviews is TGN, but I always love to check out Giantbomb.com

It is a site run by the unbiased reviewers that were fired from Gamespot.

        Re: Good gaming site?

Since I write some of the reviews here, I try not to read other reviews of the same games so I won't try to copy them. But when I do read reviews I goto www.metacritic.com and just look at the overall score and the different summaries and sometimes just click on ones that sound interesting.

Metacritic is what I use too

Even if some games are getting way too high scores from some sites (FC2 come to mind) it usually evens out pretty good

I'll echo what Manzi and iQue said, going with metacritic for my reviews. I'm able to get a wide variety of opinions there to help me get a better overall feel for a game.

Some reviewer sites are consistently higher, some are consistently more negative, some seem almost clueless...but from the explanations and style of writing, I can get an idea if what they're saying has any merit or if they're just hyping or hating.

              I use Manzi :o

but I read TGN reviews or just go on the official site and look at the features list.

MetaCritic, Yahtzee, um the dude that left Gamespot Jeff Gerstmann iirc made a site of his own and he is awesome in reviews and doesn't over do it like gamespot.

                    +1 for GameTrailers

I agree a lot more with their reviews and their video reviews are a ton better than the crap they make at gamespot.

Why care about the score the games are given? Why not just read/listen to what the reviewer talks about in the review rather than just going by the score?

Like some of the boys above i mostly check out the http://www.metacritic.com/ and http://www.gamerankings.com/
They both sum up all the scores and you can see the overall.

As for the text review i mostly go on IGN.

                          Its faster.

I like to do both. A little public opinion never hurts, but I also want to see the gameplay because there are some styles I dont like at all.

I was using the score as an example of how easily Gamespot give out good merit, with over sugared game scores usually comes over sugared game reviews.

In other words if I open up a site and it gave Farcry 2 an 8.5 then I'll close that site almost immediately.

It's for this reason I like Yahtzee.. Because he strips away all of the BS and puts the enthesis on the problems in the game which will usually tell you whether it's worth buying or not. I was just hoping there was a review site that used a similar manner.

Anyway thank you for the reccomendations, I'll check them all out :)
