Battlefield "Cold War" circa 1989 with the USSR expanding aggressively sounds to be prime subject matter. Check out the link. I think this intense armored invasion sounds to be very interesting, rooted in history, allows for a fictional plot narrative and fits the Battlefield universe.

I don't know, I've never played that game but I have played WiC and Russia VS. US on Russian or US soil is pretty much my favourite conflict scenario

World in Conflict. already been done.

Desert Combat was also essentially US vs Russia, as Iraq just used all ex russian equipment.

Also would totally isolate international gamers, as Im tired of having to play as the US. Even WW2 games focus only on the US, and barely touch on the other countries involved.

Go play WIC for this theatre.

World in Conflict? Why would I want to play a RTS when I wanted Cold War FPS action? I would definitily but a BF2 + WiC style-FPS.

Also you try making a storyline with Russia without involving the US. Unless you want to focus on a specific front like Red Orchestra, which is Soviet Union vs. Germany, but past BF games have always included all the major battles of the war.
