Easy way to switch between headphones and home stereo?

Is there easier way to switch between headphones and home stereo? I use USB headphones mostly, and once in a while I like to use my home stereo, which is hooked up through the sound card 1/8" miniplug.

But I have to unplug my USB headphones, or the sound card output won't work.

Is there some method of indicating which device I prefer to use?

only if your sound card allows it, which my instinct says it doesn't. Usually the normal kind of sound cards you get in a pc only have 1 output and you're trying to use 2 outputs simultaneously and it's probably not built for that. I'm no expert maybe someone else knows a way.
