Is it time to get GTA 4 yet?

I've heard that GTA 4 is a great game but that the PC version was ruined by instability and bugs at a large scale. I'm waiting for this to get fixed so that my first time experience with this game is a good one. So did they fix the game yet, is it playable?

It was playable for me when it first came out.

Performance is pretty shoddy, and the camera constantly turns left if my joystick is plugged in, but apart from that it's a great game!

i think its great, it runs smoothly on relatively low settings but still looks good, there are a few graphical glitches but apart from that its brilliant

Personally, I think it is a better gaming experience on the consoles for GTA IV. But if you don't have one you should still get it for PC.

I've played GTA 3 and VC on PC and they did great I played GTAIV on PS3 and it did great. I think Rockstar does a better job then most porting to PC.

I never had an issue playing in on both my Desktop and Laptop.

You cannot play at max settings, this game was like Crysis, designed around future hardware.

Crysis isn't such a great comparison, Crysis was designed primarly for PC so optimisation for the game the entire way through the development cycle. Whereas GTA is more of a console based game, so it's fair to assume it's a combination of not sufficient optimisation and crazy *** amounts of graphics!

I loved it when I received it as pre-order, completed the story and now going after the pigeons and the other misc stuff. GET IT! :-P.

Check my Xfire pics for recent car screenies with medium setting graphics it still looks good.

At the time of its release it was not possible. Of course it is now tho. I can play maxed at 1920x1200 with my GTX295. :p

Seriously it is one of the worst GTA games, right down there with GTA3!

The only issues i've had since the beginning is missing textures popping up here and there, but nothing that has made it unplayable.

Right now i am having some odd CTDs with the new 3rd patch.
