anyone know the command to change the draw distance? I used to know it but I forgot and google hasn't helped

Just to be sure, are you talking about actual draw distance, or just "depth of field"?
If depth of field, the command to turn it off is: seta r_dof_enable "0"
If actual draw distance of further away objects, I'm not sure if it is a single command, but more like tweaking several LOD variables. A lot of them are located in this spreadsheet, so you can try playing around with anything that has "lod" in it. You can try going to www.bashandslash.com and looking through the COD4 tweaks there as well, as they have discussed and compiled a lot of them (spreadsheet above is linked from there). -
