    Modified content error

"This server only allows players with unmodified content to join. Revert your version of BF2 to the current official version to join."

I keep getting this error. I did a complete reinstall of bf2 3 times now. i only get it when a server switches maps though. i can get right back in but after a few seconds or a minute if i'm lucky, i get kicked by punkbuster for corrupted packet flow. after getting kicked out 2 times, it works but its really really annoying. anyone?

Using vista x64. i didn't have this error when i played on my laptop which was running vista x86.

    Re: Modified content error

Well you can right click on the bf2 shortcut, select properties, compatability and run in compatability mode for XP sp2, but you shouldn't need to..

It could be that you installed some obscure beta version of the last patch.
What version does it say on your screen?
Otherwise you can read what EA Support has to say, but it will probably be a case of manually uninstalling, installing BF2 and then patch 1.41.
The only other thing that would cause this is a virus or bad ram.

Vista blows rear thats why, stick with XP until windows pull their heads out of their asses. :p

Not had any experience with vista myself so hard to help you.

Only thing i can think of is a driver in your graphics is throwing a hissy fit when the maps change.

Or possibly because BF2 wasn't designed for vista its throwing a wobbler of its own accord.

You have no experience with Vista yet you judge it? You have no room to say anything kid. Vista is a far superior OS to XP, anyone who has used it for more than a couple days will tell you that.

Also, before you start blaming the OS, you should know what the hell you are talking about. The unmodified content kick is one of the most popular kicks in BF2. It happens because you load into the server before the server itself loads the whole map.

This kick is not Vista related. Before you start tossing around words blaming the OS learn your sh!t. The Vista hate wagon ended years ago, welcome to the real world kiddie.

And who do you think you are? Giving tech support to a person trying to get a fix for a problem when you have no idea what the real cause of the problem is. So you tell him to go back to XP because you have a personal vendetta against the use of Vista?

You are a total troll man.

You are rediculous, get a life, frigging attacking someone who's trying to help someone else, your a joke.

No one needs an arrogant person like you around, seriously.

Did i say to him personally to go back to xp, or did i say stick with xp in a general manner, get your facts sorted before you come and attack people for nothing.

Telling the guy that Vista is his problem is not helping, that is being arrogant. I am left speachless that you can tell him Vista blows, then in the next sentence say you have no experience with it. You are crazy dude. There are thousands of gamers worldwide that run BF2 and Vista without a single issue. Until you have proof that Vista is causing his issue, I suggest you keep your vista hatred to yourself.

Right end this here because this has derailed this thread.

My solution was NEVER! and i repeat NEVER to go to XP, I said that in a general manner, not a factual manner, not a thats my final solution manner, so your causing trouble where there doesn't need to be any.

Re-read my first post and hopefully you will see that. I didn't give a solution at all, i meerly said what it could or couldn't be, there's been countless errors with BF2 & Vista, just like there has with BF2 & XP.

I don't know where you've got this theory that i'm blaming the operating system, all i said was that vista blows rear, im sorry if that offended you in anyway, i didn't realise vista meant so much to you

Either way, the problem is sorted now, well we think we have why the problems being caused, after all you have diagnosed it so it must be right...

No hard feeling eh, again i'm sorry i said those aweful aweful things about Vista, what must i have been thinking...

Also FYI...a small heads up... i think you need to look up the word arrogant in the dictionary, because your take on it seems to be very wrong...

Just because you never said flat out "the problem is vista" does not mean the insinuation was not made.

You are right, this does need to stop. Not a vista issue.

Also, before I part. I did not do the research on it, it was an official statement from EA on what was causing the issue. It has no impact on the OS at all.

You know...fair enough, next time i make a sly comment about vista i'll think long and hard on how to phrase it so you don't think that i'm saying its the core of all of the worlds problems...after all....i wouldn't want to insinuate vista is worse than a tramps hygiene and isn't even worth the disc its copied on....i wouldn't want that at all.

I'm glad we've cleared that up....truely i am, i'll sleep alot easier now, we've found the problem, realised that you made a mistake, and we definitely know that vista isn't useless after all.

I feel good about this outcome

Start -> Run -> type msconfig
go to boot.ini tab, advanced options and set maxmem = 2048

Then restart. This error happens because you load the map faster than server. The above will limit your memory to 2GB and will slow down map boot times.

                            This worked for me
