Why is Dice and EA revisiting the past with this rehash of 1942. I for one love all thing WW1 and WW2 but hardcore fans wanted something modern. Heck I would have settled better with BF3142 to be honest.

There just seems to be limitations to what you can do with the tech from back then. We all know what to expect. They say they are listening but they aren't. People have been asking for a bf3 for ever now and they can't seem to get it.

But heck, I'll give it a chance anyway.

And it looks like a previous poster said 2142 was the last true bf game on pc and I think he was probably right. Now we'll probably get ported games and whatnot. And you can't really blame EA or Dice ya gotta blame the damn people that break the code and throw the game on pirate bay for all to download for free. Idiots.

piracy doesn't affect online games like the PC Battlefield series so that is no excuse, sorry

Because the battlefield games don't get pirated, then why would they have to worry about piracy for the battlefield games? I don't see how piracy would make them not want to release a battlefield game.

Most battlefield fans I've seen have been wanting a 1942 remake for a while.

I for one am already tired of all the modern warfare games.

Do they? I remember when Bf2142 came out, these forums was full of people who was screaming "StarWars! Lasers! Evil!" and refused to try it. And they still refuse

What hardcore BF2 fans want is BF2. Any deviation from that will just cause more screaming. No offense intended

I think the WWII setting has the most potential of any war because it was almost completely manual. No guided missiles, no jet bombers with Fire and Forget. Even with vehicles you have to get down and dirty to cause any damage. And of course there is a huge number of vehicles and battlefields available to choose from.

Btw does the setting make that much of a difference? From WWII to WWIII the concept and gameplay has basically been the same in BF. Infantry has variations over SMGs, (assault) rifles and sniper rifles, while the vehicles are Tanks, APCs and Aircrafts

for atmosphere it makes a difference.The games could be pretty much identical but you might prefer one setting over the other.

In my opinion WW2 games have a more Dark intense nature to them, new combat is not good at all, whats good in firing a missle from one side of the world to the other....it shows the world as being pathetic wimpy little people.

WW2 is a more in your face era of war, games generally are more enjoable around that era.

They only lost on spore because of the dumb DRM protection, people figured your better of pirating the game and have it cracked, then paying $50 for it and not being able to install it more the 5 times. In order to install it more then 5 times you have to crack it and therefore it brings you back to the conclusion that you would be better of pirating it in the first place. They only punished the loyal customer not the pirates. BF2 is only worth playing online which makes it that much harder to pirate and pointless at the same time.
