BF2 Complete Colection installs will not run, Vista 32bit Home Premium

Can someone help? I have tried everything I could find to get BF2 CC to run. The game installs fine but when I try to run it it just goes back to the desktop with no error messages displayed. I have tried running it from the download manager and by using the BF2 icon, but nothing seems to work.

.Net Framework: 1.1 & Hotfix installed

MSI GX710-200 laptop: Vista Home Premium w/ SP1 installed, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600, AMD AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 1795.6 Mhz, 2GB ram

DPI Scaling: Normal

Winodows Firewall: set to allow BF2

Router DMZ: set to I.P. address of laptop

EA Download manager icon: Compatability mode set for XP SP2 & run as administrator

BF2 icon: Compatability mode set for XP SP2 & run as administrator, right click run as administrator

Patch 1.41 installed

UAC: was on when game was installed (still on), user account has admin rights

Compatibilty: set to XP SP2 run as administrator for icons

EA Download: right click run as administrator

antivirus: turned off

Check the refresh rate of your monitor, set it to 60Hz if you can.

The ATI Catalyst Control Center is showing 59Hz as the only choice. Thanks for the try....

turn UAC off i went through that 50 times before i finally fixed that issue, do you get the
inital BF2 splash screen, then screen goes black for a few seconds before it CTD's ?

The game wont run at 59Hz. You will need to force it to 60Hz.
If you can't do that using Ati Catalyst control panel advanced settings you will need to download something like powerstrip, reforce or one of the other many tools you can find using google.
Or use an external monitor.

Try going to

\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\

Open the Default folder

Then make a back up of your Video.con if this messes up for some reason. Then open your Video.con file and find the following line

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

And change it to your resolution and refresh rate.

Save and try running the game. Quotes from Tweak Guides.

If you have managed to make a profile before crashing, edit the profile folder instead (the 0001, 0002, etc folder).
