    Sights

Just wondering after the discussion in the BF2 section, are all the sights in 2142 lined up to where the bullet actually goes? All the red dots and reticules are part of the HUD, and the only ironsights we have are on the pistols. The red dots should line up perfectly since it's not part of the model, but what about the pistol sights?

Are the sights in 2142 models or 3D? I know the pistols are 3D but I really haven't paid attention to the sights that much.

i think for the most part they are pretty accurate, unlike BF2 when you're often scratching your head after pumping a mag into someone and not die.

well example the krylov uses a red dot in the HUD code while the scar has it in the actual model which is lined up on the centre of the screen.

tweak from krylov: ObjectTemplate.fire.fireInCameraDof 1 means it will fire from centre of the screen instead of the barrel from the weapon
ObjectTemplate.fire.fireInCameraDof 0 will mean it will fire from the barrel of the rifle instead of centre of the screen resulting in inaccurate shooting etc.

its practically with most of the weapons instead on vehicles where they shoot from the barrel.

I was talking about how the center of the screen and sights weren't lined up like lots of the guns in BF2. Like this, red pixel is where the center is:

Do all small arms fire from the camera or just the Krylov and a few others? Interesting. I've noticed the grenade actually gets thrown a little to the right since the soldier is right handed.

what a bunch of trajectory and math that we dont need to spend time knowing about. it bugs me that the more you look into this stuff the more complicated it gets

Okay let's just have laser bullets with no drop or travel time shooting from our foreheads then.

what version of bf2 did you play? i played 2 years & the guns were overly accurate. the pkm (upgrade to support) was so accurate on its first shot, you could use it as a sniper gun. for the most part if you put you target right on the iron sights, you were hitting. the pistol sweet spot was just above.

Remember the 1.2(?) PKM that was as accurate as the SVD? Nothing but damn PKM snipers all over the map.

yes i do wolf. there wasnt' anything innacurate about those guns at all. except for maybe that uzi-like unlock for the engi as part of special forces. mp5? i forget what it was, but it was weak & just made a lot of noise. everything else was good. me likey the special forces medic gun (g36c?)

The G36E is basically an unlockable cheat.

The MP7 (SF engie unlock) was originally as accurate as the damn carbines, but DICE (wisely) decided to nerf its accuracy to make it more like the AT SMGs. Honestly, whoever was in charge of initially testing their patches should be tarred and feathered, because they royally dropped the ball on those.
