Well, after buying Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition after my original CD broke, I was horrifyingly frustrated to find (after going though all that junk upgrading my old EA account) that once you activate your Northern Strike on it, the game crashes and gives that little "modified content" warning. Well after doing research for hours, looking far and wide through out the internet I have found a solution! (besides the install and cloak an emulator which is ridiculous.)
The problem was the SecuROM.
The fix is a new, uncorrupted .exe file.

I know it might look a little shady, and you have all the right not trust me because I only have 1 post. But it really does work, it's legal, and all it takes is a ~30 second download.
IF you don't trust me,go to the SecuROM website. Just tell them you are trying to play BF 2142 and that you get the modified content problem. They will email you the same .exe file that I have linked, but it might take a day or so for them to do it.
Now, once you get the file, all you have to do is replace the old one, with this new one. But be sure to keep the old one someplace safe in case something happens.
