all they need to do is come out with some more maps or produce new versions of old maps that have the flag placement like tunis harbor. just have each team with an uncap and then have an equal number of grey flags. i dont really get why they didnt do this anyways. i mean at least on camp, cerbere, and shingle.

Re: reducing baserape
I think they have it the way they do on some maps because it's supposed to be that there is a clear 'attacking team' and a clear 'defending team'. Tunis, for example, is a territory that's unowned and both armies are after it so there is no attacking or defending team, whereas the EU is already in control of Gib and the PAC want to remove them from it. A good example of this is Hue 1968 and Reclaiming Hue from BF:V. Just for the moment we'll disregard the fact that Reclaiming Hue remains the most unbalanced vanilla map in BF history, the original Hue map starts out with the VC and ARVN on equal footing trying to get ahold of the city, where as Reclaiming Hue has the VC with all the city flags and the ARVN on the bridge trying to, oddly enough, reclaim it from the VC.
It's just a different spin on gameplay instead of it all being equal. Many maps are more fun when you have to be on either an attacking or defending team, and generally the attacking team has certain advantages that the defending team does not, such as superior equipment and/or more equipment closer to the front lines, etc. -
Re: reducing baserape
I seldom encounter baserape - even on servers that explicitly allow it. Truth be told, attempting to embark on a baserape is usually a suicide mission, and if a baserape does occurr, then the attacking team has a nasty problem on its side. The main problem with taking away the uncap is that it sets the attacking team at a disadvantage: the defenders can then actually cap-out the attackers using a ninja squad, and the game's over before it has even begun.Comment

Re: reducing baserape
I have rarely seen what I would consider baserape taking place. However I have been kicked for baserape many times. Simply shooting an enemy on the sand at CG is not baserape. Taking a walker into the PAC landing zone and systematically slaughtering everyone who spawns is baserape and even when that happens I don't think their should be any rule against it. It's something that PAC have to deal with.
I think all the standard maps are fine in this respect. That's why the PAC assault with FAV support to aid break outs. However I think the first flag out of CG and Shingle on IO maps should be neutral to give the invading force more of a chance to get a foothold.Comment

Re: reducing baserape
IMO base rape is fine, it's spawn killing that is lame. At least let the other player have a fair chance to see you and engage before letting him have it.Comment

Re: reducing baserape
Perhaps the real problem stems from a lack of consistent definition of terminology. Some servers allow entering the enemy base as long as you don't spawn kill. Others won't even let you shoot into the enemy camp from a distance.Comment

Base rape is only an issue for whining little bitches. If you're getting raped you should figure out how not suck any more. Kicking/banning is a way to allow the attacking team in gib a 'chance' to come back from being outmatched when really people should learn how to deal with a walker in base, which is easy to take down anyway, or should learn to play a half decent team game.Comment

so in other words your ok when a walker kills you just as you spawn? Or you get knifed as you reappear? This is fair to you then? Or is this a rant from someone who will refuse to play as pac on Gib as long as you get to rape as eu? :shakehead:Originally posted by Chin_of_BuddhaBase rape is only an issue for whining little bitches.
