    Patching?

Hi. My brother received a gaming laptop for Christmas along with the BF2 bumper pack (all the booster packs, etc). I've been trying to download and install the patches, as he obviously has an older version by default (version 1.0.2442.0). Just downloaded the 1.41 patch, and it simply says it can't find the BF2 installation. Now, it's been a while since I played BF2, so I'm not sure what patches to get, etc etc. So if someone could outline that and maybe even provide links (patches are really hard to find, mainly because the EA site spazzes when I try to download from there), that would be terribly helpful.

    Thanks.

I have 1.41, the problem is it says it "can't find the Battlefield 2 installation folder".

try reinstalling bf2 but leave the destination folder as default, so just keep clicking OK during the installation and don't change anything, then try patching again.

          Re: Patching?

I left everything as it was, the destination folder is the original specifed. I tried to uninstall BF2, but was met with a slew of error messages. I can play BF2 online and offline (obviously version 1.0 though). However, when I put the BF2 CD in, instead of giving me the option to "play", "install" comes up. When I try that, it never finishes.

I think because I'm on Vista, it may be giving the patch problems. Or perhaps it's the fact that it is the bumper pack. Although saying that, there is no sign of Special Forces installed. Nor is there the option to. I'm under the impression that the patch is looking for a destination folder which may exist on XP, but is slightly different on Vista. Seeing as I don't know very much about this, I'm screwed. Any help?

I'm not going to do something that drastic on someone else's computer.
