Switch families.
But hey, could've been worse. It went on the news a few days ago: some guys were playing an FPS with the volume turned up so loud that the neighbors thought there was a massive firefight going on in there. The SWAT team was bangin' at the gamers' door within minutes.Leave a comment:

lol it's always funny when a 10 year old is a squad leader for some reason and asks in a reeeeeeaally squeaky voice "hi guys can you hear my mic?". I laugh but try to be polite

Actually, I have the comp in the living room and my family (game hatersActually, I find it amazing that we are approaching 2010 and there are still people that don't have mics.
) don't like me yelling: "WHY **** DONTCHA ***** EMP THAT **** WALKER ON *****RUINS!!!", so I don't use a mic.
Those (very rare) occasions that I have an SL on a pub server using his mic properly is indeed a treat and shows that BF2142 is so much more than a frag fest. Usually I hear a 12 year boy (or girl?) squeeking "kill the morons, kill the morons, y'all useless sh!t"Leave a comment:

Actually, I find it amazing that we are approaching 2010 and there are still people that don't have mics. Anyone that every decides to be a squad leader should always have a mic. It seems in games like L4D, it is super hard when people run around without communications.
But in BF, there are just to many things a squad with mics can do over random groups of people. When you can point out locations, or tell people to cover areas (or each other), you get a full factor jump on other groups without direct verbal communication.Leave a comment:

Re: Do you use a mic when you pub?
Not me. I don't see the advantage of connecting to either of these when the in-game VoIP does the job just fine.
Only on SERIOUS BUSINESS matches do I ever connect to TS for the sake of inter-SL coordination.Leave a comment:

Re: Do you use a mic when you pub?
Just curious, how many of you guys play in either ventrilo or Teamspeak. It seems like a lot of people just log on and play by themselves and hope that someone in their squad will talk...I always play in vent, and its a lot more fun, and it doesnt hurt my gameplay, it helps it if anything...

Re: Do you use a mic when you pub?
Yeah i have seen that happen a lot.Cardinal direction and/or landmarks.
Suez canal at silo 5: Sniper, top of the tower on 5.
Belgrade, squad on Ruins flag: Multiple infantry on the flag.
Shuhia Taiba, tank approaching silo 2 from the west: Enemy tank, inbound from the west.
Cardinal directions, unlike your squadmates, never move. So they are great for giving info on where things are coming from.
Although in practice, most people tend to confuse directions anyway. Happens on a routinely basis that squadmates will confuse between the corridors on a Titan, so in my attempt to split up my men to quickly destroy consoles 1 and 2 ("You guys get 2, I get 1.") I find myself with my entire squad in corridor 1 because they thought it was corridor 2.
