TF2 Updating

I've just installed the Orange Box, and TF2 is listed as ready to play, but when I select it, it then says that it needs an update. However, nothing then downloads, and the estimated time remaining just keeps increasing; it's currently over 2 hours. Any idea what may be causing this?

EDIT: OK, it's doing it now... just veeerrry slowly.

Hmmm. Surely for every major update they update the TF2 that you download from Steam when you buy it so that you don't have to download the past 2 years of updates. It must be how it's done.

What's your download speed for other things?

It should have been fully updated when you first installed it. When I got TF2 the pyro update was already in-tack.

He never said he bought it off steam, I personally have a retail copy. It needs to be updated when installed.

I bought mine retail and it was already updated when I first installed it

Oh, I didn't realise there had been any responses, as it sorted itself out. It was a retail copy, and once everything had downloaded, it worked fine. :)
