Maybe this will alleviate some issues users have been having. Don't know if it will last though...

Interesting, I may give this a shot (my home console went the way of the red rings a little while back.) Thanks for posting!

Needless to say, this UBER voids your warranty :)

Why do that when you can send it to Microsoft for free and get it back all within one week? Just do the "Towel Trick" if you want a temporary fix.

^ the towel trick is the best out there. not only does keep your warrenty active but you dont have to worry about opening it...for the people who are not very tech savy

I just inherited a 360 from my nephew, he got a new one and gave me his dead one. It's giving me an E74 code. I think I'll get drunk watch some youtube vids on dis assembly and see what kind of damage I can do to it. Though there is a local guy on craigslist who claims to fix RROD and E74 360's for $30.. Probably better to just go that route lol

Could your nephew send it back to MS to have it fixed for free. I remember seeing that they extended the warranty.

It's 3 years for original models I think in the UK at least though probably world wide. Might be worth checking that out first, before getting it done by some random chap :)

We got a broken xbox from the cafe not too long ago and we did the whole xclamp thingy, replacing the washer sand stuff and now it works perfectly :) it's essentially as easy as changing a part on your PC :)
