Your Connection has been lost !!!

Hi,

I have been playing BF2 since June 2005 and never really had a problem with it. I recently bought DELL XPS 420 w/ Vista Ultimate so I'm fairly new to the OS. I installed BF2 in the following order:

BF2
BF2 Special Forces
Patch 1.41

I right clicked on the BF2 logo on the desktop and clicked on compatibility mode as xp sp2 and running as admin. I have tried with or without the compatibility option for the record. I have Windows Firewall turned off and Mcafee is on but it has set BF2 to full access to internet. I have comcast cable and the modem is hooked up to linksys router but my computer is connected by ethernet and NOT WIRELESS.

So, I can login but I cant join a server. As soon as I click on join server a message appears "Your connection has been lost" or "Check your internet connection, etc". Before it was also giving the error, your cd-key is not valid but I fixed it. So what do you guys think is happening? All suggestions are welcomed. Take care guys. :)

Btw, my pc specs:
q6600 2.4ghz
4gb ram
8800gt 512gb(180.18, November Driver)
750gb hd
Vista Ultimate

Have you tried turning the Linksys firewall off? I had to do that with my old Linksys router.
You could also trying disabling VOIP, it helps some with this issue.

Tried it. Didnt work.

EDIT: It worked on one server but then it didnt work again. Any suggestions?

Is punkbuster up to date?

Manually update Punkbuster: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

I also had it. update your video card to latest driver, if that doesn't work update to a earlier version, a very old one like on the disk. then update again to the newest.
this worked for me.
