    Coop lags?

I have been trying to get a few coop games running with my brother, but regardless of who does the hosting, the other will experience lag.

The hosting PC will not experience any lag, which to me indicates that it is not caused by CPU or other system resources.
But on the other hand I have a 2048/512 connection, and we both live in Denmark less than 100 km apart. So I should think the Net connection was OK too.

    Any ideas?

I have considered setting up a dedicated server, but as far as I can see they are not capable of running coop games. Is that true?

That is true from what I can tell. A dedicated server is for multi-play.

The only time I have seen lag in coop has been:

    1. When someones ping was really high, like 150-200.
    2. When someone had their antivirus running.

What I would do is turn off everything you do not need, including antivirus, spyware programs, utilities not being used, etc... Then try it and see how it goes.

Also, because it is coop, it is very dependant on how well the machines are running. Make sure your hard drives are clean and people dont do this enough, but if you need to, defrag them.

I actually defragmented my gaming partition yesterday before playing with him, but it still lagged.
I am running Avast and ZoneAlarm which I suppose I could kill before gaming, but I would expect them to cause lag for both players, and not just the client. Another suspect could be Folding@home which I will get rid off. But still, MP and SP works fine, it is only when we try Coop that the "client" player experience lag.

I will try to get him to run a speedtest, maybe he has horrendous ping.
Can we see anywhere ingame what the current pingtimes are?

Don't kill Zonealarm as you'll still be getting Portscans whilst you're gaming, just put into into "game mode".

I think my router will eat most of those. But better safe than sorry.
I suppose it should be set to "Automatic Deny"?

Whilst hardware routers are good, thinks still get through, trust me.

If you look at the player list, at the end it shows the latency. Since you both are so close, I would expect to see 50-130 range, which would be good.

As for your firewalls/spyware/antivirus, putting it in game mode will work as well.
