I have been away for a long time, just completed a major hardware upgrade and tried out BF2. Got an award, Armor Assist or something. I went into BFHQ after a few days, but the award never showed up.

Is the global award system still working?

Yes, it should still be working fine.
Just play another game and complete it than it should show up.
