Punkbuster being retarded

So I was trying to connect with the server and I got kicked. Said something about punkbuster. So I did manual update for it. I mean I was trying to do but I can't. I got some weird error when I was trying to update punkbuster.

I don't think it's Punkbuster being retarded, probably just the user.

Considering it says that the "file is in use" The first thing I would do is think "hmmmmm when would a BF2 file be in use?"

Maybe wheeeeeen... BF2 IS RUNNING!?


Close BF2 and update. You can't update/modify the punkbuster files while they're running ie. when the game is running.



Also, why do you have 100 processes in your taskbar with random numbers in it?

That's Everest running which gives you real time information about your system (temp, gpu usage, etc.)

Because it really wont slow my computer down? I have all those things opened all the time and I still get fps over 100 ingame.

Make sure your windows user account type is administrator.
Delete the PB folder in Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2\
Download and run http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
Download: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php and run the uninstall first, then install.
Make sure you allow the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32\" folder (or "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\" on 64bit systems) in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls.
In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list.
After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked.
