Never really had an issue with the GPS, except once where I reckon the diamond was on top of a cliff that was impossible to climb. The closer you get to it the more accurate you have to be with the direction in which your pointing the thing.

Yeah sometimes the diamonds are on roofs and other hard to reach places, their all accessible though.. Others that are up cliffs are normaly along a higher road or pathway.

I hope Yahtzee reviews this game, It will be a slaughter!

Ok so I finally brought myself to finishing this game and it's ending was on par with the rest of the disappointment...

I don't want to ruin the ending for anyone but to be honest it's pretty much rooted already, the very last thing you have to do is pretty much just a walk and then it's over which sucked big time! I was expecting an action packed last stand which would in some way justify the hours and hours of time I wasted playing it... But no, just another walk in the jungle to the end of the game..

Does anyone agree with the average review scores? 8.5 seems way too high based on what I've seen and played.

Yeah there's no way in the world it even comes close to 8.. I'd honestly give it a 4.. Anything more than that would brand it playable >.>

This is why I only listen to Yahtzees reviews because he points out the flaws which can easily ruin a game. You also have to remember alot of gaming review sites such as gamespot are sponsored by these game companies so they can't rubbish them too much.

Yea, is it just me or were there NO civilians at all apart from the first (CoD4) intro? thats what killed it for me, there is no point in having a free roam environment at all if everywhere you go a jeep pops out of nowhere behind you and forces to stop, get out,kill, repair and then drive off, I mainly did not finish the story because of this. The missions were just terrible, same mission just different part of the map each time. Urgh just such a bad game, if only they had spent as much time working out what to do with the game rather than making tech demos we might have got something good.

The weapons.. What the hell is with your brand new weapons rusting and jamming after an hour’s worth of game play?.. And they always manage to jam or just explode in your hands at the most crucial moment, like when you’re getting attacked for the 50th time by another random jeep patrol!

think that is bad... try playing in stalker clear sky, you start firing, it jams, minor hiccup, have to manually reload, jams again without even firing a shot, reload again, jams, reload, jams, bandit manages to shove 3 rounds into you. you die. and your weapon is in near perfect condition.

Ive read all your opinions but i still want to buy FC2. I have to see things before i believe them and even though i worship yahtzee almost even if he reviews it i still want it, hell, even after his Alone in the dark review my brother still wants the game. if i buy it and its sh!t its sh!t

Weapons jamming is a stupid idea anyway... who cares about realism when it breaks the gameplay. I went and bought myself a brand new shotgun and it jams after barely using it for an hour or so. Jeez...

Yeah I agree with Sir.Tasty, Wtf is the point of a free roaming enviroment if your limited to see and kill ethics. It would have been good to have small villages spread out around the map, Not only would it be more realistic but they could have also based some mini missions on it. Say a villiage on the far west of the map is being attacked by a group of rebels and you get to go in and neutralize the situation the best way you see fit. That would have been awesome!. The game had ALOT of potetntial.


As for the jamming weapons, I don't mind that they jam but ffs 1 hour off the shelf? And what's more annoying is when they just spontaneously combust lol wtf is that about?.. One or two jams after a few hours worth of gameplay with the same rifle would be realistic and probable.

sorry to bring this thread back to life, but i disagree with many things you guys said.
While the GPS, AI, and weapons are rather dumb, playing Far Cry 2 was one of my most enjoyable playing expieriences since Assasins Creed and Bioshock.

I honestly can't see how someone could thoroughly enjoy this game, like I said before there is a problem with EVERY aspect of the game. But, as you said you also loved Assassins creed so maybe boring repetitiveness doesn't bother you.

Well, this game blew me away expectation wise. it balances realism and actual Playability better then most...only pet peeves i had were the stupidity of having to cross the entire map, required to drive in the middle of about a thousand guard posts for like 15 diamonds....and the medication was annoying...but i got the game free with a motherboard so i cant really complain :thumbsup:

well...in some departments its not that realistic(like you said, damage and bulletproof vests and all that noise) But i thought it was great...maybe just because i was expecting a pile of crap and i got a moderately shiny pile of crap

It's not that good. Free world doesn't mean crap when the outposts refill with new enemies every time you drive through them and running isn't usually an option, since you have malaria and you can't see anything after sprinting for 5 seconds. I don't like the general feeling of the game either to be honest, but I won't judge the game for that.

It has its good qualities but seriously, sometimes I wonder if the game designers were on drugs. Malaria isn't exactly a fun and exciting feature.
