Let Everyone Know; I am a "Hack"

Well, here is an interesting question for the fellow BFE participants, and this is posted now in the TotalCOD section for regular players to read and judge us as well.

This dude IM's me today on XFIRE stating that he was going to be removed from BFE for "Hacking", and that I too was a "Hacker" along with about 6 other people. First, before we continue, lets throw out some names of who these "Hackers" are...

    -Emocyde
    -Patton
-DarK ... Our very own DO
-Steele ... Steele?! OMFG ... Steele hacking, roflmao
    -Castle
    -NewYork

It seems in light of some people not liking Dark, they decided to take the fact that we are all level 65 into account as "Hacking".

So lets get the facts straight.

We never hacked, especially because the last time I hacked in a game was 9 years ago. Steele is a complete drunk and doesn't even know what 2+2= half of the time he's online and Castle isn't even in BFE (yet).

We (Not including NewYork, not sure how he did it) simply got MPData for Level 65 and replaced our profiles with it. People claimed that this was "Hacking" in PB Enabled servers, all the while we were gaming along with other level 65 players who got there by having no life.:shakehead: The games stat system is used to unlock higher weapons, however, due to the online play where there may be Level 2 players against Level 65 players, all the weapons are designed to have Pro's and Con's so they are all roughly even and fair throughout the gameplay.

Due to us Pubbing in Our Server and a few other servers that the admins have all come out and said on their "No Hacks Allowed" Servers that we ARE allowed to play there signifies that by no way we are hindering anybodies game play. People enjoy the ability to pick up our weapons when we die. Our skill level was not altered in any way shape or form by putting this MPData as our own, it simply unlocked all the weapons. Is that a crime? Quite possibly in BF2 because the sole purpose of playing online in ranked servers in Battlefield 2 would be to rank up and spend 1000+ hours doing so to achieve the highest rank. Doing so in Call of Duty 4, which Level 65 has been obtained legitimately within only 3 days by many gamers is not the sole purpose of the game, it is nothing more but an "Extra" put in by InfinityWard, and now Treyarch for people to want to play more.

So, a few people, I won't say names, decided to post in the officers board crying that we are hackers and have broken all the rules. Why not let the public hear this story and make their own concensus? We decided against working for level 65, although I was already half way there when I had done so, and would have been at level 65 probably by yesterday if I had actually earned it.

This as well, does not affect us in BFE at all. BFE uses a mod where everyones rank is set the same, we do not get perks, unlocks..etc that others will not be able to get once BFE moves in COD:WW. My clan member who did not use the data is at level 65 and he has enjoyed the competition against the "higher level" guns. Quite franquely though, he still owned us regardless.

Most of our time gaming was in Zombies, we did not want to waste time online when we only really wanted to play Zombies since the game has come out.

So let me ask all of you, is getting ahead of the rest by 3 days really hacking? Or is it just being unsportsmanlike pricks? Should we all be stripped of our honor in BFE because while we pub as a clan, we all want to be level 65? Is it a crime that the 2-3 servers we play in where we are allowed to play in, we sport such a rank?

Lets see what the public says. And with that, I will be bringing this right to the MyIS staff I worked with as a TotalCOD Director so they can hear our story, and not just the "Taddle-Tales" and see what they have to say about this. The sole thought some are using this as a low blow tactic to remove Dark from DO because he is a verbal DO who actually enjoys playing is appauling, and shows how childish some people are. (And, you people know who you are.)

Meh, they won't do anything to protect our stats if a random BSOD can wipe them and you loose all your wonderful toys I see nothing wrong with being lvl 65. Especially the pain I need to go through to bring my weapons and rank from one PC to another. Considering the double XP weekend will be around the time I reach prestige mode I'm feeling A. that I paid to much for a flask that doesn't work and B. they a screwed the pooch with the ranking system. How about next time, you get unlocks by playing the single player game and make it easier to transfer stats from one PC to another, no ranking system to b!tch about and nothing that can't be recovered in 5 hours.

In short, your doing nothing wrong...unless you take the ranking system serious. They took the lazy route again for stat tracking and its biting us in the *** again.

Sure your not using aimbots or multihacks but you have obtained level 65 in an unfair manner. That is all I have to say.

No comment especially since I seem to do everything the legit way, maybe thats why I continue to find myself as an AC admin somewhere.

Regardless, when is the double XP weekend?

              Barely hacking.

I think it's harmless enough since you can reach the same rank in just a matter of hours. You might gain an advantage over other players (barely that) but you'll only have that advantage until a week or so when the "legal" players catch up.

I couldn't care less to be honest, I would be against it if there was some sort of stats-tracking service but since there is no such thing... no big deal.

Cheat. Just because it's not an aimbot or 3rd party file running doesn't mean it's fair.

Whoever did that and plays on a PB, public server is a cheat.

x2 while it may not be aimbot type cheating, its still not fair. takes the fun away from multiplayer and trying to earn it. it may not be a big deal, but if everyone started of @ lvl 65, the multiplayer would be kinda boring IMO.

Its not hacking but it is pretty lame and very unsportsmanlike.

Well I could be wrong but if you are leveled up to the max you get all the weapons and perks??? If that is the case then I have a BIG problem with it since it takes days or maybe even weeks (for some of us that work) to get to that point.

Also, the perks give you another advantage along with the weapon add-ons. I would not consider it hacking but I do consider it cheating and yes there is a difference.

Having some weapons add-ons gives you an advantage over another player, same as a cheat :)

I would not say it's hacking/cheating as in the "aimbot/wallhack" kind of way. However, it does give an unfair advantage when going on pub servers.

In COD4, it took an average player of about 50 hrs to reach lvl 55. That's not a lot, but it's still significant play-time (3-4 weeks, if people play an avg of 2 hrs a night). You still need skill to shoot other players, but it is unfair (even if just a little bit) to have the higher level perks and weapons against them without putting in that time. As well, I don't know if altering the mpdata also gives the extra create-a-class slots that Prestige does, but if so, that is another slight advantage.

As someone else said, what is the point of ranking at all, if everyone could just alter their mpdata to have all weapons, perks, and create-a-class slots (again, if that is also unlocked).

If people with altered mpdata files only played with those specific profiles on their own clan's servers, but used "regular" profiles on pub servers, I think that would be ok, as the playing field is level. But to use it on regular pub servers isn't quite fair.

The only caveat is the stats-wiping bug. I can understand the frustration with that, although again it doesn't take that long to rank up again, so unless someone was already past Prestige lvl 1, I don't think it's justified using it.

The problem with this is perception...once someone takes step 1 of altering a file, people then question if that person has altered anything else. That person's credibility is then damaged.

Again, one compromise solution I could suggest is to have a "regular" profile that you rank up normally on pub servers, and an "altered" mpdata profile to use when your clan all plays together on a private server.

                          ..

I personally will still play with people who altered their profile, but to be 100% honest, there is that little bit of respect that is lost when you know they have done it.

It's cheating plain and simple. Trying to justify it does not change the fact that you cheated.

Re: Let Everyone Know; I am a "Hack"

How is it cheating? Guys in my clan reached Level 65 today playing normally, and they have all the weapons and perks that I have. What is the difference, besides that I didn't put the game time in that they did?

Yes, I skipped the game time, thats why they make points to rank up; so you spend time playing their game, but the way I was playing (Got to level 38 in 1 day) I would already be at Level 65 right now - all the perks, all the weapons.

I would think the highest level you can leave it at is unsportsmanlike or 'taking a short cut'. Again, if it was like Battlefield 2, I wouldn't justify it at all (I only got to 2LT) but I enjoyed BF2 because it took me A LONG time to get my rank and aimed at having the best stats. COD:WW has no global stat tracking, so you play to get weapons. The weapons are all designed to be equally matched; a level 65 shouldn't have a clear advantage over a level 10 or whatever.

So besides taking a short cut, or earning my rank .. I am just wondering how it is considered cheating to copy an mpdata from someone else.

I don't game in random servers, I only game in 2-3 servers that respect me as a gamer, I follow their rules and am a "good citizen" I guess you can say in their servers. I do this because I don't want to get called out, I have another account that I rank up with for actually earning.
