I used to get the 'handshaking failed' bunkpuster kick all the time (not heartbeats) and I found a (painful) workaround. After you are kicked, close the game and open the task manager. Kill the bunkpusterA process (B will not show up) and restart your game. Join your favorite server and play to your hearts content. Effectively, this restarts BP.

Ok, Even balance has just got back to me, they suggest you delete the pb folder from your BF2 folder and then run the PBsetup.

All works fine now!
