    PunkBuster..

Alright, I've been having issues with PB the last couple days.. getting kicked from multiple servers within 30 seconds of joining with the following message:

"Service Communication Failure, PnkBstrB.exe heartbeats stopped"

I tried manually updating PB (as I have always done in the past) using pbsetup.exe, and when I select "Check for Updates" it says a new version of PBSetup is available and starts to download a file called "pbsetup_34.zip", but it appears to quit downloading after less than a minute and says PBsetup is restarting, at which point the program closes and restarts. I try again, and it does the same thing... the file doesn't appear on the evenbalance website as a manual download, so that option is out.

Now these problems just started 2 days ago, and I checked evenbalance.com and it looks like there have been some new versions being released starting 11/12 and again today, so I can only assume my issues are connected to this.

Anything I can do to try to fix things, or is it better to wait and hope PB gets things sorted?

Anyone else having similar issues recently?

    My PBSetup version is v3.2
    PB Client version is v2.140 | A1392
    PB Server version is v1.695 | A1392 | C2.124

    Re: PunkBuster..

    Well, that was wierd..

Ok, so I messed around in pbsetup.exe a little more and noticed when the program went to restart after attempting the update that a new file appeared in my punkbuster folder called pnkbstinst.exe (or something like that), which would then disappear once the restart had finished and the EULA menu appeared. I tried again, this time manually clicking the new file before it could disappear and somehow v3.4 installed successfully, at which point I was able to update BF2 and download the latest reference files, etc.

I tested it out and so far, I'm no longer being kicked.. not sure this is a valid fix, but FYI for anyone having a similar issue..

Ok, skip that.. still being kicked, even tho pbsetup.exe says I'm fully updated..

I'll post back if I find a solution..

It does that to me to! 15 seconds after I get on it says, "pb handshaking failed" my brother has tried updating it but nothing works! The only thing we can do is keep trying and sometimes we can get on after a while.

Sometimes it's best to delete everything pb and re-install.

Please make sure you allow the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32\" folder (or "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\" on 64bit systems) in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls.
In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list.
After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked.

You can download the new pbsetup.exe manually from http://websec.evenbalance.com/downlo...oad.php?file=1

I made a folder in C:\Program Files\ called PunkBuster, and extracted the new updater to it. Then I made a shortcut to C:\Program Files\PunkBuster\pbupdate.exe and put it into my profile's Start Menu\Programs, so that I can use the Start Menu to update it.

                        Works for me...

good trick also to use is once you do update your PB try restarting the computer.

Well I’ve been trying to update Punk Buster for a while now, and every time it comes up with an error #0114 could not up date.

I have added PB to the exceptions in Windows firewall and my Antivirus programme.

PBsetup will let me add the link to BF2 and when I click the update tab it will start the update get about 2cm across and stop with the error above.

                              Anybody else having this problem?
