    Treyarch-or-Infinity Ward

After a small amount of comments i have heard about World at War, i was just curious to know which Dev Team your prefer....

Cod4 was real pretty, lots of detail, with a small hit to performance.

World at War looks, um, ok to me, with a slight more noticable hit to performance.

    Whats the verdict?

I really don't care. They are both capable of making good games, I don't think it's good to brand one company good and another bad.

and no one is asked to brand either company "good", nor "bad". Simply who do we prefer to make our games?

Stop chasing me with that damned ugly broad attached to you!

        She's coming for you!

I prefer IW. I'm not very impressed with WaW this far, and CoD3 wasn't that good either.

I think it's a bit too early to tell, honestly. IW had more flash, but they were mainly geared toward Consoles. Treyarch, although having an easier time by building upon existing COD4 technology, already gave PC users a better beta/demo by making it MP. And, although it's yet to be released, apparently some bigger/better/more powerful mod tools and capabilities are on the way. If they can deliver on that, then perhaps they'd tip the scales to their favour.

All I can say so far is that COD4 seemed more polished/finished than COD:WW, but WW already has more stuff in it (vehicles, co-op, zombies, more ranked options in MP).

              Re: Treyarch-or-Infinity Ward

Treyarch have done alot to create this game, and I can't wait the 9 hours until my mailman comes tomorrow to deliver it...

IW have only ever developed CoD games. They are a pretty new company, and alot smaller then Treyarch. Treyarch have developed about 20 games, whereas IW only 3 (working on 4th now, CoD6)

If we were comparing the two about the CoD series, then I'd probably go with IW overall although Treyarch have added lots, I still think that being a large company they would have been able to ensure minimal errors. Well they did release a patch on day one so that's great for them, and they have developed the game for the PC, 360, Wii, DS and PS3 - so I guess they had to split there coders up quite a bit to be able to produce for each platform.

As for the way IW/Treyarch have 'advertised' the game, Treyarch have done awesome with keeping secrets and then revealing them close to the release date... and also posting new 3D shots every few weeks, and even having the VIP thing (probably Activision though) so that VIPs get secret awesome looking concept art and other screenshots...

              Plus JD > 402...

Let's hope that IW take note of how Treyarch has developed and delivered this game, and hopefully we'll see an even better CoD for 2010 (since it'll be pushed back from its late 09 release, I think) >_>

If you compared the two games, WaW would come out on top, (that's counting all the various features and things)

              >_<

The 'noticeable' hit on performance is probably because WaW has a few things it needs fixing, plus it also uses Shader 3.0 whereas CoD4 used 2.0 (or you could use 2.0 on CoD4 but you can't anymore on WaW)

                    Re: Treyarch-or-Infinity Ward

I agree that WaW is packed FULL of stuff we did not see in Cod4. Treyarch has definately put their own touch on things, and you can tell. I am in love with the dismemberment, and the horrid sounds made by them, my jaw dropped in disbelief when i saw a severed hand laying on the ground, and a headless corpse next to it, amazing.

But comparing storytelling, im kind of undecided. Both IW and Treyarch have kept my attention between Cod4 and WaW. The single player campaigns are great! Although Keifer Sutherland is kind of getting on my nerves =vP

But as Whiskey stated, i feel like there is something missing, Cod4 felt "finished", as WaW seems a work in progress almost.

IW made huge advances since the last COD, Treyarch made a good game but its not THAT much better than COD4.

                        Re: Treyarch-or-Infinity Ward

Still a little early to tell, have to let the game sink into the community first. However, I also love the extra blood, death animations, and screams. I'm not sadistic, but when I pop someone in the head with the rifle and I see that perfect blood splat, it feels satisfying. :)

I feel that Treyarch tried to be more creative with this game aka the zombies, the gore, co-op, the artistic style of the storytelling/cutscenes, and some other things. It's kind of like how CoDUO was. I always picture IW as the stiff, type A personalities making a war game, they make it well, it is structured and stable. I picture Treyarch (or Grey Matter for CoDUO) as the type B personalty developers. Sure, things can be over the top or more arcadey, but at the same time, it loosens things up, doesn't feel as stiff or restricted, and I always love creative ideas.

I believe both companies need to move the series beyond the linear sp though...dear Lord, I'm not 5, and I don't need my hand held through sp...Crysis, MoH Airborne, and many other games have given more freedom in sp and it's much more enjoyable. HOWEVER, I would want in no way, shape, or form for a company to spend too much time making a more non-linear sp that would then take away from their time creating the more important element, the mp side of the game. I'll take what was given! lol

i laughed the first time i got blown up by a nade and my guy's legs went missing 'neat' i thought. they also have better ragdoll death physics in this game when in cod4 people always slump over and die in the same couple ways no matter what. i also noticed that whenever you hit people in the head it makes some noise like you hit some kind of helmet that they are wearing even though he has a bandana on his head or something stupid.

After seeing how much effort was put into COD:WAW, it's hard for me to say, as both are great.

But if I had to choose, it'd be IW. They won't let down.
