    A Few Comments [Retail Vers.]

**By Retail, I mean Retail + the patch.

I actually enjoy the game. I've mainly played Co-op, but still I've had fun with the game regardless. Anyways, I still have a few concerns, and I want to see if anybody else feels the same way.

    Sprinting
I honestly have lost count of how many time's I've been crouched, hit sprint, and my player just seems to not respond. Other times, the sprint seems excessively delayed - and this often gets me killed. Say I'm crouching through the circle building on Makin, a guy comes around the corner - I should be able to immediately stand up/sprint back around the corner, but sometimes my guy just won't move.
Also, the inability to stop sprinting by letting go of the shift key is annoying to say the least. Sure, I'll probably get used to it, but what is the reasoning behind this? I literally have to let go of my w key, not my shift key, to stop moving and therefore stop sprinting. I should be able to easily toggle whether I'm sprinting or not, and it just gets very annoying.

    Gun Balancing/Recoil
Now, I've only played multiplayer online for maybe 2 hours, but I have already noticed some major imbalances between the guns. The MP44 still has absolutely no recoil, while the thompson does (the thompson is how I feel the guns should fire) - same with the semi-automatics and the garand, most have absolutely no recoil while the garand does for some reason. Finally, I've used the PPSH in co-op, and that gun has basically no recoil either. I'm just confused, because shouldn't the guns have recoil?!
Now, I understand that a good competition mod will probably balance things better, but shouldn't guns feel more like guns. I mean, I'm getting [more] used to the sounds, but those coupled with the little recoil just makes it feel like I'm using a toy.

I'd go off on a rant about the bolts, but everybody already knows about this. Let me know what you guys think about these things, and if you had anything else to add feel free to post!
*This isn't a "whining" thread, it's just about my concerns with balancing/gameplay, especially with the sprinting thing.

Also, please, please, please, for the love of God - stop making every server hardcore!!

I am only a lowly lvl 6 right now, so I dont really have any other weapons to try.

As for the sprinting, I havent noticed that. Ive been able to move when I needed to. I will pay more attention to that and see if I notice it now that its been brought up.

The Thompson does seem to have noticeably more recoil now in MP. And although some of the servers I've played on were HC (unfortunately), the rifles seem to be making a comeback on S&D game-types.

I didn't put my finger on it last night, but yes, sprinting seems different somehow.

Thank goodness the HC filter is back, because as of yesterday at least, there were at least a 3:1 ratio of HC to nonHC servers.

Some of the maps are quite small (eg. Asylum, Courtyard)...if you have more than 14-16 people, they become the familiar spawn+die pattern, so be aware of that. But on small servers, they can be nice maps to play.

I think that when you are sprinting you do not have to hold the sprint key down, just hit it once to start sprinting and once more to stop sprinting.

I've fired both the PPSH and Thompson in real life. The PPSH has very little in the way of recoil, it was a dream to fire this weapon. The Thompson has some kick but nothing like most of the WW2 era rifles that I've fired. This is due to the nature, I think, of the ammo these weapons use. SMG's as everyone knows fires a pistol cartridge, whereas, the rifles fire light machine gun cartridges.

Sprinting seems the same for me, and I'm running around with a thompson, with extreme conditioning. It needs some handeling, but I got used to it in beta. The rifles are quite a powerful presence now that automatics aren't as robust as they were in COD4.

I really have no complaints about anything major so far. Can't connect to a friend for CO-OP but I can host for other people no problem, hell even had a round of nazi zombies.

Once there are mod maps rolling in I may not see COD4 again, and this tiny reason might make the difference. The addition of squads when playing with friends makes it a million times easier to know whats going on. Even just having blue names is enough, but adding markers on the map brings it to a BF2 level of communication tools.

Not quite, but I know what you're trying to say. It's definitely moving more toward a BF2-style of usefulness/teamwork. I liked the "commo rose" system in BF2...simple, yet powerful...hopefully they'll put something like that into future COD's.
