    vista Q

So how many of you edit you're loc files? I do and it makes playing bf2 all the more fun and somewhat easier to play on my desktop which runs XP. However, I'm not able to edit loc files on vista for some reason.

    This is what happenes:

    - I'll copy my loc files that I use on XP and transfere them to my laptop which runs vista.

    - After deleting the original files and replacing them, I open bF2

    - BF2 don't open now

Is there like a trick to this on vista? Come to think about it, I tried it a few months ago so I'm going to give it another go later today, just need to xfer the loc files again.

O ya one last Q, is FRAPS the only recording program available to use on bf2? Is there any free software that works too?

    FRAPS
    Gamecam
    xFire
    WeGame
    Growler Software

All work, I can recommend xFire and WeGame, but fraps is still superior.

Doesn´t open as in what? Change in the BF2 shortcut:

Fullscreen 1 to Fullscreen 0, and maybe it will give you an error message. I had changed localisation files on vista working fine.

I edit my localisation files and i use Windows Vista Business X64 and my game runs fine, so i'm really not sure.

Try using pre-modded files rather than doing it yourself.

I know that if you're playing Crysis and you are moving your config files from an XP system to Vista or the opposite, you can run into problems.

Not sure if it's related to this in any way, but anyhow, either try to revert back to the default ones and see if it runs then, or use a premade by another author.

Fraps is probably the best. but give xfire a try. its free, works good, and has a nice overlay showing the recording filesize.

oh and i still use ringmasters locals.

see this thread. Basically it just changes how some of the text is displayed on your screen. some stuff is highlighted, and some versions show the exact full name of the weapon used: "M1A2 Abrams 'MBT' "
