After all the hem hawing about the lack of a HC filter in CoD4 at release, I'm absolutely stunned we didn't see one in the beta here.

I'm happy to report that the HC filter is back in for the full retail version. :)

Yea i agree, 2142 for me was better than Bf2 or any online game i have played. Yes it had its problems and flaws, but it was awesome for teamwork.

Gears of War was sci fi
Even in 2142, there was not that many laser guns (only the anti-tank battery, futuristic walker and hovercar were true sci-fi elements). Everyone seems to think, omfg sci fi = star wars lasers.. but most of the time that's not the case.

and it was damn fun, 2142 was one of best games ive played, and defo the best sci-fi one :)

People knock sci-fi down for the futuristic laser weapons and such, but imo, if a sci-fi game was done really well, it would be a massive hit.

I actually would have preferred another modern era game, but there are rumors that IW's next CoD game will be sci-fi.

I would much rather see a Vietnam CoD than a futuristic one, but thats just me.

They said from the beginning it was WW2. They are going to do something different for CoD6, so in 2010, that may be what you are wanting. Until then, you have 2142 and CoD4. Personally, Im glad they did a nice WW2 one with some updated things in it. I havent played a WW2 is BF1942.




Wow, 5 whole minutes. Some people can tell if they like a game or not within a few minutes of playing. Good thing you tried it out and didnt waste your money.

If the game doesnt leave you an impresion in the first 5-10 min then it s doomed. First impresion is olways important. When i started up the game it was 100% the same as cod4 the movement how the game feels it was just the same it dint brought any WOOOW this is some cool ****. It was like been ther done that. If you dint liked cod4 because it was moder time this is your best bet i guess. And i do think the reason they made this WW2 is because they thought they could win the souls of ppl that wher expecting cod4 to be WW2 game instead of modern. :salute:

There was a news article somewhere around here that IW already pushed it back to 2010.

Maybe it was rumor, but I recall seeing it somewhere. In any event, the next one is rumored to be "different" and may not even have the CoD name on it.

I think it's great that it's been pushed back, I'm kinda tired of these games coming out every year.

I think that is around the same time as the new Medal Of Honor game comes out. Heard it is going to be set in modern times.

Yeah, apparently it will focus in on the "war on terror" going on in Afghanistan in present day.

The problem is, that the fools running the show at EA are blaming Airborne's poor showing on the WWII setting, instead of all of the bugs/flaws and just plain unfinished state Airborne was in. If that is the case, then even if they make a modern war game, it could still be of mediocre-to-poor quality because they will not have learned their lessons and realized what they actually did wrong with Airborne.

With 3 poor MP games in a row now (Breakthrough, Pacific Assault, Airborne), even I think it's much safer to not expect anything good from their next one, but instead wait for official magazine reviews on the finished version, and/or playable demos before getting our hopes up. I won't say it will be an automatic fail, but I can no longer be optimistic about it either. All decisions should be based on the finished state of the game only, and even then, I'd be guarded about it.

Yeah PTO has yet to be fully exploited like ETO was. But COD6 is for sure not going to be ww2 so place all your bets if its going to be anywhere from Korea to 2###.
