Well, other then the whole "not enough servers so massive lag" thing, I think the gameplay is fantastic. The weapons have a good "feel" to them imo, which was important to me. The character of the survivors are cool, very personable. Using the voicecoms (which are changed from typical source 1-9 voicecom menus to two menus reminiscent of the commo rose) results in some fairly amusing back-&-forths between players, while the automatic voicecoms (like when you spot a Hunter or hear a Witch), are many yet every single one is actually useful.
The normal difficulty is fairly easy, which puts to rest my fear that the game would be too unforgiving in the beginning. Another thing that aids newbies is that while there is permanent FF on, it doesn't really penalize the person shot too much. (Though they say some funny stuff when they get shot, especially Louis)
As for the matchmaking system, I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it. I'm sure that when there are more servers the lag will go away. There must be fairly few, because when I crashed & rejoined, just by going to "join a game in progress", I ended up in the exact same server!
Now, for the whole "director" system. It really did spice things up a bit, as there were places that were totally empty (that were packed with zombies the previous playthrough), as well as fairly random item placement. Still, I could see patterns in where certain waves were encountered and where certain items were found (in particular the twin pistols). I wouldn't mind if the Director was more random then it is at the moment.
What thoughts do you have on the demo?
