    Decide for yourself

Ok, I admit CoD5 had grown on me quite a bit... However, I was asked to scrim in CoD4 the other day, and oh man, I miss that game. I know a lot of you are talking about how CoD5 is better than CoD4, but have you played a legitimate CoD4 round since the beta was released?
It was amazing, I felt like my guns were powerful, I could hear the bomb defuse from more than a foot away, the gameplay felt smoother... It's just depressing to play CoD5 right after CoD4

Granted, I know I'll be buying/playing the game - but for those praising the game - have you tried playing CoD4 since the beta? You might want to, and you'll be surprised.

    Re: Decide for yourself

I have and I still love both a lot for different reasons.

I came online with BF1942 and always played just one FPS game the entire time. 1942 then it was BF2 then it was 2142 then I jumped to CoD4 and now there is CoD5. HOWEVER, this may be the first time I dont dump one game for another but actually play 2 FPSes :yay:

CoD4 is great, dont get me wrong, but there are things changed in CoD5 that I love. Like hardcore mode with regular mode health.
Like adjustable everything on a server and it still be ranked.
Like realistic gun sounds from real life and not something made up.
Like the soon to come Co-Op modes.
    Like going back to WW2.

I know everyone says its just a CoD4 mod, but to me its different. What I was expecting about CoD5 is almost EXACTLY what I got. I get the best of both worlds :yay:

Eh matter of preference, a thread like this can go on forever, COD5 has larger maps and rounds last more then 5 minutes which I like. More tactics then spray and pray in cramped spaces, or camping around a corner with a sniper rifle... Easier to flank someone and take them out... I prefer COD5 gameplay, but i like COD4 weapons...

ya. CoD5 gameplay is better. but atm the cod4 flying [sprinting @ promod ] with a super-uber heavy machine gun with 1,000,000 rounds per minute is always fun

I just find cod4 to be more noob friendly, which is why, after playing 5 or even 2, it's a nice come back, even against skillzor'd teams [I mix cod4 a lot] because killing is just a relax in that game. I still think cod5 is better though

          Re: Decide for yourself

COD4 is still a great game, but I find that a lot of things in that game just promote too much lame gameplay (the powerful weapons, the super-accurate sights, the way the maps are designed, the explosives). It's just too easy for the people who know the sightlines to camp and kill you from the other side of the map.

So far at least, I'm finding that the maps in COD5 allow me better choices in how to move around so that I don't get funneled into a kill-zone as easily, and the weapons are slightly harder to control/less accurate, so campers don't have as much of an advantage. And there's less nade spam.

Maybe that will change over time...that's just the vibe I'm getting right now. It just seems that some of the things that made COD4 so cool at first became things that players would exploit, and it ended up hurting gameplay itself.

            Re: Decide for yourself

I'm with Zuke on this one... CoD4 has a certain feel to it that CoD5 doesn't have. In my opinion.

Played a little S&D on vacant yesterday after just playing CoD5... not the same thing at all. Guns feel different, and the weapon reload/sprint animations etc are beautiful compared to the blocky look and feel of CoD5. Even though the sounds aren't realistic they are still great.

            But it's all preference. I don't think I'm buying CoD5, it feels like a WW2 version of CoD4 that isn't as fun.

For the average TDM pubber CoD5 probably is the better game... but from a semi-competitive standpoint, no. Not for me.

It will be kind of interesting to see if younger gamers, and/or gamers whose main experience was with COD4, will continue to like that game better...and if most of the older gamers who played more MOH/COD/UO/COD2 prefer COD:WW more, over time.

I tried playing COD4 yesterday, had to start from scratch, and every one on the server was at the highest rank. Of course they had a distinct advantage, which meant it sucked for me. I did not have fun at all.

COD4 has just turned into a huge nade spamfest for me. Its still fun, but the constant grenading gets very annoying. Oh, and I'm ready for a good WW2 FPS.

                    Re: Decide for yourself

I'm talking about a "legitimate" CoD4 round - not the 30+ man HC TDM kill fest. I mean, a 20 man or less SD/SAB round - which, quite honestly, is how the game should be played.

You talk about super accurate guns in CoD4? Yes, there were a few, but CoD5 has more - ex: the recoiless MP44, the SVT, the Type100, they hardly have any (and in the case of the MP44 and a few others, have no) recoil at all.

Yes, it is preference in a way - but I just think that's there some big design flaw somewhere in the game that makes it not feel "right".

I haven't unlocked all the COD:WW weapons yet, but I can't agree on that so far. MP5, M16, M4, Ak74u...all highly accurate with low recoil depending on the sight you use. Slap a red-dot on the M16/M4 and you can sit there all day until your ammo runs out picking people off.

I agree its down to preference, For example you would consider SD rounds a "legitimate" round where as I would much rather play a HC more arcade-ish style version of CoD4. I just think people need to get over comparing the games then the balance suggestions would have a lot more credibility. People just seem to be complaining as its not the same as the previous CoD game, fair enough, but this is why I like WaW, something new.

Guns are supposed to be accurate. How many have played on a PAM4 or promod server with no gun sway enabled? It's like CoD2 all over again. It's brilliant.

Why is CS the biggest FPS game in the world?

My opinion yet again... But to be honest, I think this game will have a rather small competitive scene unless there's some sort of promod coming out quick.
