    New profile name; same stats

Your mpdata file is located in C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\pl ayers\profiles\<profilename> for Vista. C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\<profilena me> for XP.

It is a good idea to keep a backup of your mpdata in case it becomes corrupted or otherwise lost. Use this.

To create a new profile with your original stats:
    1. Create a new online profile in-game and get at least 1 point in a ranked server. If you go to the above location, you should see a folder for your new profile.
    2. Copy your mpdata file from your old profile folder to your new profile folder (overwrite).

Do not use an mpdata file that has been corrupted.
Do not transfer profiles or mpdata from one version of the game to another (e.g., beta to retail).

Nice. That'll be handy if it also works in the full version.

EDIT: here is the XP path (slightly different than above):

    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaWbeta\players\profiles\<profi le_name>

Note: And lookee-lookee what else is in there...the config_mp.cfg file. Sweet.

You have to set your PC to display "hidden folders".

From the \Documents & Settings\<user> folder, go Tools->Folder Options->View tab...then under Advanced Settings, enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders".

Once you do that, you'll see the "Local Settings" folder, and the other hidden folders within the path.

Wait, so the whole online verification thing is just for the friends list and not the stats? I think it's kinda stupid to have to unlock stuff that's just stored locally.

Yep. It's a good idea to keep a backup of your mpdata file anyway because if for some reason it becomes corrupted, there's no way to restore your stats.

Does this actually work? My friend got to level 24 in the beta, his stats got whipped when his game crashed the other day and I told him about this, but everytime he tries, it says corrupted.
